it depends, schools ranked in the 550+ may only have a single 1 band 6 in the entire cohort (hence why the distinguished achievers percentage is like <0.2) whereas a school ranked in 100+ have a greater proportion of students with band 6s but obviously if you work hard (which you have)...

the school rank does matter the lowest ranking schools might have a top atar in the high 80s

+1 personally i think high internal rankings are impressive because you've been nail bitingly competiting with your other classmates through many assessments, assignments and practicals throughout your HSC year. Why should you be punished if you happen to stuff up a one day exam in Oct/Nov?

i find it good to have stories involving an oldie and a young person because you might have an image stimuli of either one

Rankings for the internal, but after your HSC trials you should really help boost the performance of the 5 ppl in your class (i.e. work together) to pwn the externals

a well ranked school isn't a top 100 school, more like a top 50 imo anyway, half of your subjects scale quite well and the other half is a bit of a let down, but the effect of scaling diminishes if you do well in all of them so get good ranks and you'll be on track

remember that just because you're in a high ranking selective school doesn't mean the last ranking student still gets an ATAR of 90+ someone in ruse got a UAI in the 60s in the past lol
