    Help

Thanks for offering your notes :) As tonberry says, if you upload them to boredofstudies you don't have to individually send them to other people. If you can't upload them through the usual manner (on the main boredofstudies.org page) you can email them to one of the moderators and we'll...

    Co-Op Computer Science

That doesn't necessarily mean 'competitive' .. just because you strive to do YOUR best doesn't mean you compete with everybody else to get there. Some of my friends topped 1711, 1721, 2041, etc etc. but they don't push others down while they do it. I guess I misinterpreted 'competitive'...

    What makes a leader

A leader listens to his (or her!) subordinates. He considers all possibilities and their consequences, and chooses the best which satisfies the situation for all parties involved, at that time. A leader is never cowardly, and never runs while his men are in danger (that can be reinterpreted in...

    Co-Op Computer Science

Shazzam, have a look here: http://do.cse.unsw.edu.au/students/scholarship/scheme.phtml That's the scheme for co-op, ie what subjects you have to do. I know one of my friends is studying Japanese .. all her electives have gone into Japanese courses (School of Arts, of course). There are a...

hsc related suicides, iv heard about 20 this year

How about, 'we moderators at BoS support you'? :) On a more serious note, I had no idea the number was so high. The HSC is most certainly not the end of the world, but I think a lot of people see it as the most important thing 'right now'. Also fear of stigma probably makes them think twice...

    Co-Op Computer Science

It's $13 400 now, and you don't have to do Mathematical Computing! *throws hat in the air* Sadly I already did mathematical computing *mutters* $50k isn't much considering that's quite possibly the starting salary for a graduate :p but the experience is good, and the money is useful...

    Co-Op Computer Science

I'd recommend doing COMP2041 in s1 of 2nd year, it's a good subject for when you want to 'take a break' from the other subjects *shakes fist at DSS* It might mean having a full timetable though (since most people do DSS (CS2021) and Data Org (CS2011/CS2711) in 1st sem as well)

    Co-Op Computer Science

I do CompSci Co-Op. 2nd year. I guess it depends how much detail you want.. Currently we get $12.5k a year.. next year it goes up to $13.4k. You get almost $500 a fortnight, which is a lot while you're at uni and not enough when you're working full time. Compsci is not like BIT - BIT...

    Read...!!!

Lying is sadly an integral part of what politicians (and their cabinets) do. Regardless of whether or not the world is in peril it's BAD and wrong .. but they do it nonetheless (also refer to Children Overboard, The Axis of Evil, etc). It may be morally and ethically wrong but do you really...

    finally going broadband! which one?

The iinet 1.5 plans are good, considering iinet has free p2p and all that. 24gig is more than enough for the average user anyway :) The problem with free downloads in set times is that the service tends to deteriorate around those times because ALL users maximise bandwidth usage. It's...

Has anyone read all over Dan Brown's books?

Yeah, I've read them all. In order from best to worst: Angels and Demons, The Da Vinci Code, Deception Point (can hardly remember this and I read it last!), Digital Fortress. Digital Fortress had some very interesting material it could have gone into (crypto, the NSA) but it flunked.

where to buy good computer system?

A gig of ram is worthwhile IMO ;) It's something you may be taking from comp to comp anyway .. at least I know I do.. ram gets transplanted more often than HDs :) I suppose what kind of games you'd be playing, and how much you care? Since I got a gfx card I can't actually play properly using...

    BEST laptop??

Give it a bash first. People tend to come up with similar needs on this forum (I wonder why!! j/k) so generally the only thing that changes is the price range :)

    computer programming

You can always Google for information, tutorials, assistance etc! Google is your friend. Decide on a language to learn - good first languages include Java and C. If you like the idea of databases learn SQL, php, perl etc. I advise NOT learning Visual Basic if you don't already have a firm...

Why the hell are you little bitches on here stressing now?

Hey, year 12 is one of the best years of your life.. + at the end of it you get 3 months of NOTHING. (for me it was almost 4!) Literally NOTHING! There's a lot to look forward to, just keep it all in perspective (three months of nothing...)
