The low down on Uni Lodge

EXACTLY this is what people don't get, it's just started so they are bound to make mistakes... and then learning and fixing them. Compare unilodge 2007 to 2008 - so much different, so much better

    O'Week

O Week looks so awesome this year. I'm so annoyed I'm going to miss it... damn Seattle... here's hoping Bush Week lives up to this standard

    Unilodge... who's in?

As far as carparking goes, Davey Lodge has about 30 spots, which is ridiculous and they cost (well they did last year) about $20 a week... which adds up to a lot. If you can I'd suggest trying to get a spot in one of the ANU multi storey places (there's one just behing Davey), one of my friends...

    Self catering at ANU

I've lived at self catered places for two years and I don't use the car I have - everything you need is in walking distance. There are heaps of decently priced cafes - I recommend Essen - and ther is Superbarn, ALDI, and two IGAs in the CBD. Plus ther Canberra Center is the best plaza in the...

The low down on Uni Lodge

I thought I'd contribute as someone who has actually lived there. I've had a great experience living there for the last two years - I won't be back in first semester though as I'm on exchange, but otherwise I would be. What type of organisational set up do they have? SRs, committies, etc...

    uni exchange?

I'm about to do it - I'm heading off to Seattle in January for 6 months. It's not difficult to be accepted - go along to one of the information sessions at the start of semester and they'll tell you all about it. Basically you submit an online application saying where and why you want to go...

    Information on Accommodation

no, i'm not an ra or sa, i just think unilode gets a bit of a bad rep - far too much generalising goes on.

    Information on Accommodation

UniLodge made an ad on open day, it's quite hilarious http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=xzZM9AN1j6E Unilodge is actually a great place to live though - i've been here 2 years now and it's been a realy great experience for me, we have some good parties too - for our Halloween party this year peter...

    Information Technology

Your elecive can be any course from any faculty. Don't quote me on this but you can do 8 (I think) out of faculty courses during your degree. Pick something that interests you.

    Note Takers

So I was thinking about becoming a note taker for the disability services centre to get some extra cash (seing as the job hunting thing has been unsuccessful thus far). Has anyone here done this/know anything about it?

    Information on Accommodation

At least UL isn't as expensive as anywhere in Sydney - I stayed at New College @ UNSW for a week while I did a course at NIDA and it cost about $400. It was catered but we didn't get meals everyday, the rooms were smaller and dirtier, there was no common room/games room, the tv was tiny and you...

    I've just realised something.

There is still a ressies commite at UL this year. And I know people who are setting up a cricket team. And we had debating for a little bit last year which was a lot of fun, except it started late and then it was exam time and people wanted to study instead. I'm sure if you're realy enthusiastic...

    Banking/ATM

There is also a service one credit union with ATM in union court. I have accounts with both commonwealth and service one. oh, and there is an NAB atm in union court and the branch is hidden up near the pauline griffin building.

    UniLodge!

I don't drive mostly (the car lives at ursies with my sis and comes out if i need to get to the other side of the city or something) I don't cycle though either... (I have a slight bike phobia since I had a big bike related accident when I was younger) I just walk everywhere - thats another plus...

    Does UniLodge do O-week?

Last year there was nothing (although I'm sure partly it was due to it all being new and no one having any idea what should happen). Last year unilodge was fairly stingy with planned social activities: there was a dinner at the end of semmester 1 and a halloween party as an end of semmester 2...

    some trivial questions

Some of the faculties are less organised than others so not all courses have timetables listed. Any drama course and NEWM1001 are ones that I have noticed are missing at the moment. If you email someone, they might be able to let you know what the timetable for your course is likley to look like.

    UniLodge!

There is a big car park across the street which is free on weekends, otherwise it's about $5 or 7 or something for all day parking. There are a few ANU places close by but they fill up fast - and I'm prety sure they are permit only... not sure how lenient they will be... Oh, and I'm moving back...

    UniLodge!

Since every other on campus accomodation now has a dedicated thread, I thought I'd start one for UniLodge. I lived there last year and for this year I've migrated up to the 4th floor - yay. Who am I going to meet there this year?

    Information on Accommodation

The carparking situation at unilodge is a bit rediculous - they have about 30 spaces for 500 or so residents (and they are probably all taken so I don't like anyone's chances), and the spaces cost $15 a week which adds up to way more than the ANU parking. And unilodge residents aren't allowed a...

    Majors/Minors

You can take subjects from outside your degree though - there's no reason why you can't do a psych course in your arts degree. or if you're crazy about maths you can take some units from that or whatever you want...
