[(-1)^.5 ]^2 = -1^1

althou
[(-1)^.5 ]^2 = [(-1)^.5 ] * [(-1)^.5 ]
= [(-1)^2]^.5 [(ab)^.5 = a^.5 * b^.5]
(-1)^2 = 1
Therefore [(-1)^.5 ]^2 =1^.5
= 1
[(-1)^.5 ]^2 = [(-1)^.5 ]^2
therefore 1=-1
:) crazy... im a bored cunt :)
You're using imaginary numbers to solve real problems dude.

Let me summarise your argument:
i^2=-1
But
i=sqrt(-1), so
i^2=sqrt(-1)*sqrt(-1)
i^2=sqrt(-1*-1)
i^2=sqrt(1)
i^2=1
So i^2=-1=1
.'. -1=1
Taking the square root of both sides, i=1

The problem lies here:
i^2=sqrt(-1)*sqrt(-1)
i^2=sqrt(-1*-1)

At this point it might be pertinent to note that the definition of an imaginary number is a number which, when squared, gives -1. That is: i^2=-1.

The definition IS NOT that i=sqrt(-1)

I should probably make it a bit clearer. i is A square root of -1. The other square root is -i.

Since both -1 and 1 are the square roots of 1 and -1, this is why you get -1 and 1 when you square i.

Let's first note the cyclic nature of powers of i:
i^0=1, i^1=i, i^2=-1, i^3=-i, i^4=1
Now you've got the result that i^2= 1 or -1. Take the square root of i^4:
sqrt(i^4)=i^2 or -i^2
That is: -1 or 1.
Alternatively, square the squares of i: 1^2 = 1, (-1)^2 = 1. And what is the square of the square of i? i^4 = 1.

It's a bit like how the square roots of 4 are 2 and -2.
sqrt(4)=2
sqrt(4)=-2
.'. 2=-2.

Deosn't work, does it?

yer sorta slide rule, but not exactly... but basicly the same, it is mathematicly correct... but logicly not :)
mathematically it is not and cannot be correct or the universe would implode;)

Finding his stuff would be a problem, though, because everybody else's stuff would also be packed into the ball. :(

e^(i*pi)=-1. Euler's famous formula.

42 = the answer to the question "What is the meaning of Life, the Universe and Everything?", alternatively, what do you get when you multiply 6 and 9?

I wouldn't count on it (one formula telling us everything, that is). afterall, NEWTON WAS WRONG.

Newton also stabbed himself in the eyes to see what would happen - yet another reason not to trust NEWTON.

yes newton was wrong (but according 2 einstin, he thinks there is 1 2) and newton stabed himslef in the eye to see wot would happen... fuk dud, i wonder y scientists are so stupid.... i dont wanna turn out like that
