How many is enough to succeed and obtain a band 6.
Note - this mainly regarding chem/phy/3u & 4u maths.

My teachers seems to think around 50 throughout the whole years for 3 & 4u.
10 past papers before 1/2 yearly (other schools trials)
20 CSSA
20 HSC

And for Chem Phy - around 20-30
10 HSC
10 CSSA
10 INDEPENDENT & NEAP & QAT etc... for extra

Is this enough/too much or just right to succeed in these subjects.

Before the 1/2 yearly exams which i have had over the past 2 weeks i managed to do around 9-10 past papers for each subject. (this was over the holidays and during exam period)

ANY THOUGHTS?

Do enough until you understand everything. Everyone studies differently, so there is no set amount of past papers to achieve a band six.

IIRC, I did zero past papers under exam conditions and I either got Band 6s or very high Band 5s.

There is no set formula to getting a Band 6, so just do what you're comfortable with.

is it better to do them under exam conditions and rush them or do them at your own pace to undertsand the concepts?

Personally, I always did them at my own pace because I was confident in my ability to answer them in exam conditions. I'm a fast writer by nature so time was never a concern for me.

Basically, you should be doing as many as you need until you fully understand the concepts you need to know.

Same with me. I never study under exam conditions, because when I understand concepts and questions, in the exam I usually do fine in terms of time.

Everyone says to work under exam conditions, though I don't really see the benefit.

This pretty much. With maths specifically, I did about the first half at my own pace and then I began timing them.
