Hi fellow music listeners,

does the right or left earphone suddenly stop working after a few weeks/months for anyone?

Every earphone I have bought (ranging from a dollar to $35) has always done this and I am sick and tired of it. There must be some fix or precaution?

Let's protest against this!

I wonder why it happens though? Loose connection? Poor materials?

What did you expect for such a low price?

There are cheapies that do last a long time, but they are generally quite rare.
Though I do have el cheapo ones that have lasted like 3 years+ but they arent earphones, they are headphones and are over the back of the head/neck style ones, which I guess would piss a lot of people off.

mhmm

i had sennhesier cx300s that only lasted a year.

then i got cx500s, (and i am very careful with them).
so far it's been two years and they're still good =D

you can fix broken earphones, but it's probably not viable if they're cheap.

It's because the wiring inside disconnects from the earpiece if you pull them too hard out of your ear enough times or you are generally too rough with them.

Don't fall asleep with them in your ears either because when you sleep, the tossing and turning can break the wires as well.

Plus;

Don't pull the earphones out of the media device by their lead/cord. By pulling on this cord, you're separating the contacts within the jack (plug) and the stress will eventually snap the wiring inside.

Ah gotchya,

I have no complaints obviously if I buy them at that price. But I just thought other people would have had the same problem.

Thanks anyway!

pfft... who needs earphones. get headphones- more comfortable, sound is more fluid and in my opinion it does not break that easily (depends how you treat it)

Can't go past Sony earphones IMO, or Senheiser. They both last ages when ever I buy those. But I guess it depends on how high you have them and how much you use them.

Don't pull them out by the wire, that's a sure fire way to loosen the wire on the inside. Take them out by handling just the earpiece.
I hate how often earphones screw up, but maybe I don't treat them as well as I should. Hopefully my current ones last
