I said (-1)^0.5 * (-1)^0.5 = [(-1)^0.5]^2
hmm.. r u saying that i = (-1)^0.5?
hmm... but isn't i just an ordinary pronumeral?
You will also see z which often stands for x+iy.
They are called complex numbers, with i being an imaginary number and iy the imaginary compent.
They have a fair few uses in computing and electrical engineering.
