A cousin of the late Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein has been sentenced to death by an Iraqi court for the murder of some 180,000 Kurds in 1988.

Ali Hassan al-Majid, known as "Chemical Ali" for using poison gas in the Anfal campaign, was convicted of genocide.

Two fellow defendants were also sentenced to death while two others received life prison sentences.

Saddam had also been on trial for the Anfal campaign when he was executed in December 2006 for other crimes.

While many Kurds would have liked to see Saddam himself executed for the crimes, Majid personified Anfal for them and was thus a good second-best, the BBC's Jim Muir reports from Baghdad.

Majid stood impassively as his death sentence was pronounced. Others shouted they were innocent on hearing their verdicts.

The death sentences were automatically sent to appeal. If the appeals fail, they will be hanged within 30 days of that ruling.

My videos all have moving, living, breathing human beings who are being killed and abused, the video's speak for them selves, whether its a bias source or not. The only source which is in your opinion a bias source, is al-jazeera. But you cant really keep dissing them, because they are videos and NOT articles, those atrocious actions were caught on camera, and they're the biggest proof, and no matter what you say, you wont be able to convince yourself for very long that they aint true.
