IMO god doesn't exist. Why? He creates famine, disease, war, poverty, etc. What kind of god does that?A sadistic god?
Tough Questions: Why do innocent people suffer?

God is just a figure of faith for those who don't believe in luck and coincidences. Shit happens..
Tough Questions: Isn't Christianity a crutch for weak people?

How was God created? Did a bunch of nothing just decide to create a universe?
God: Hey im gonna become real and create myself a universe.
Yes, I admit it is a hard thing to comprehend

. BTW i realised i've offended a lot of people.
your only offense is your ignorance.. and your intellectual hypocrisy if you don't bother to read those articles .

On the second article - to say that it is an historical rather than a psychological question begs the question in favour of christianity. When people offer an empirically justified psychological explanaiton for a certain form of belief then the argument runs that other complex historical or theological explanations which make use of assumptions for which there is little evidence are best eliminated by Ockham's razor. The psychological argument offers an alternative explanation for why such beliefs exist. In any case, I certainly don't think that this psychological argument is a knock down one myself. I will note, though, that I have spoken with evangelical christians who were taught explicitly to bring people into the fold during times of need, e.g. following trauma, divorce, heartbreak, death in the family, isolation and so on. There clearly exists a subset of cases where belief acts as a crutch.

If God was created; then He wouldn't be a "God" by definition would He?

God created everything, God Himself is not of matter like our bodies, trees, rocks, stars and planets etc. He exists (should you believe in Him) on a plane that is seperate to that which we experience, He is in that sense, eternal.

Looks like the general consensus is split evenly.

Damn, I was really hoping to get the answer to a 30,000 year old question on boredofstudies.org :mad1:

Quick question...

Why does god care about us at all if he can do anything? and why is he proud of his creation of the world if he can do anything? and why did he do it in 7 days if he could do it instantly?
I pity christians, i actually feel very sorry for you.

Just like Buddhists, Hindus and Muslims truly believe they are worshipping the correct god, enough to throw their lives away.
Other religious cultures (including ours) believe in different higher beings because they were brought up with the statements of others crammed into their heads or their religion gives an easy answer to questions.

So what makes you so certain that you're god is the only god above all others?

... apart from faith, which is just a silly answer.
