Mine does, and I'm currently in year 10 and taking it next year. It sounds quite interesting, but I've noticed a lot of schools don't offer it.

I hate it.

The work is okay in prelim and beginning hsc stuff but then with the depth studies, gosh, they are so boring!

but it's easy to make up bullcrap and get marks for it. oh well.

We've got two classes at our school, which has a pretty good reputation for doing well in SaC.

my school offers sac.
they are currently discussing what to do with the PIP because i think they are going to scrap that and add another topic or make an existing topic longer... i think making the country study question another essay.
basically, like the name, you learn about different societies and cultures and how they operate.

you will pretty much learn:
concepts and methodologies
future prediction method and social change theory (functionalism/conflict theory) (Delphi method/ NGT)
belief systems (we did buddhism)
popular culture (we did rock n roll)

imo its been really interesting, i guess it just depends on the person.

my school offers it, i did it this year but im dropping it next year

it depends on the teacher what its like though

we had two classes running and my class saw it as a bludge subject and the other class saw it as really intense

its a good subject but you gotta figure out whether you think you will be able to complete the PIP
if you dont thin you would be able to concentrate on the one assignment for a ling period of time i would advise against it

xx

Yes it does, but my year is the first to take it at our school.

I love it because my teachers so absorbed in it. She marks PIPs and HSCs every so often and she's just a bunch of society and culture goodness.

Same, our teacher is a fantastic teacher in general, but she's an absolutely amazing SaC teacher.

Yeah, my school offers it, I didn't take it although some of my friends did, they found it interesting, but a bit of a waste of time.

Ours does. Only problem is our formerly amazing S&C department got a whole lot worse when one of the best teachers took maternity leave this year and was replaced by an idiot. I'm accelerated (I'm taking the HSC this year) and have loved every second of the class, but practically everyone in the year 11 class loathes it because they're stuck with a loser for a teacher.

Point is, S&C is the kind of subject that does come down to the teacher, in my opinion. If you've got a bad one and your class is inclined to think of it as a bludge then it gets to be a total nightmare because so much of it is class discussion. The PIP's a bit of work but in the end I really enjoyed doing mine and it wasn't as much research as others seem to think. But yeah, I really like the class and I hope you do too :D

Yep, my school offers it!

Like people have already posted, whether you enjoy the course or not is up to the person and the teacher.
I love it because I'm that type of person and my teacher is hell rad!
