i think this moron reckons that the dudes that caught douglas wood actually set him free hence breaking their word, even though the report states that he was rescued via military force, in other words, soldiers came in, fucked up the terrorists then got wood out.

Just like the "rescue" of Private Jessica Lynch, when American forces stormed a building where she was being held "captive" and extracted her from "the enemy". They were all heroes until it was revealed that Lynch wasn't actually a captive - she was in an impromptu hospital being given medical treatment by Iraqi civilians.

But that didn't stop the Americans from taking the credit. So Downer will probably do the same thing - despite the fact that it was an Iraqi-born cleric who went in and did all the hard work to secure Wood's release, the Howard Government will steal the limlight.

we'll have to see and i agree with ya there.
