Joint operation by Iraqi and US forces, and he's now in the hands of Australian emergency personnel. Why he was released, as you say, is yet to be reported.

Edit: Sorry, it was an Iraqi operation that was supported by the US.

About 7 minutes ago it was announced, so less than half an hour ago. His family aren't commenting.. they probably want to talk to him for themselves.

your posts constantly remind me of the fact that sick, screwed-in-the-head scumbags do exist.

In a purely callous sense he probably deserved to die. More so than many others. Its all part of the injustice of war.

i just said its bad that they lied.

i dont want to say "who they are" - i dont want to be a discriminator, maybe i mean the insurgents? but then again maybe not.

Why am i the bad guy? I said people should be honest and im wrong?

Whether they had killed him or not is relatively inconsequencial. They have to threaten his life to gain any benefit from holding him hostage.

You think its bad that they lied? They are "terrorists". Not exactly the most ethical people on the planet.

i think this moron reckons that the dudes that caught douglas wood actually set him free hence breaking their word, even though the report states that he was rescued via military force, in other words, soldiers came in, fucked up the terrorists then got wood out.

maybe they were going to kill wood in a few days, who knows

so what, you'd rather they b eheaded him on international tv or told a lie...?

that's a really unusual logic... im pretty sure he preferred that they tell a few lies rather than follow through on their promises....

Now, lets watch Downer take all the credit for the rescue operation. Just like the "rescue" of Private Jessica Lynch, when American forces stormed a building where she was being held "captive" and extracted her from "the enemy". They were all heroes until it was revealed that Lynch wasn't actually a captive - she was in an impromptu hospital being given medical treatment by Iraqi civilians.

But that didn't stop the Americans from taking the credit. So Downer will probably do the same thing - despite the fact that it was an Iraqi-born cleric who went in and did all the hard work to secure Wood's release, the Howard Government will steal the limlight.
we'll have to see and i agree with ya there.

but on the plus side at least the aussies dont spread rumors about abuse that are false - i think that hurt jessica more than the iraqis :(

If he doesn't 'take all the credit for the rescue', will you issue a public apology admitting an error on your part on this forum?

Say, with a deadline of 1 week?

@ mr EaZy: you too
