Don't some parents EXPECT you to go to the school they pick? My cousins all went to private schools and half got awesome UAIs but their parents wanted more. :/

That's nuts. lol, your mum sounds like my mum.

Just ignore her and do your own thing. If you want to go to uni you still can go and do stuff for a semester/year then apply again and you should get through, or go to TAFE.

And there are SOOO many smart kids here!
some are just pretentious.

I got 98.75 and my mum called the UAI hotline to tell the operator that there must be some mistake... my UAI was far too low. Thanks, Mum. Then she told me I can always just go back and repeat the HSC year.

And I'm not even asian.

My uncle also used the "where'd the other 1.3 go?" line... shocking.

so is 2 unit math worth anything in yr 12 if ur doing 4 unit?
no. If you do 4 unit maths, you don't even do 2 unit exams anyway (unless your school makes you to do it just in case). But if you decide to do 4 unit at the end, you don't get to do 2 unit hsc except the accelerants like me who actually did 2 unit paper (but I am doing 4 unit atm)

Me: Mum, Dad, I got 98.75

Mum: Congratulations! I'm so proud of you *huggles*

Dad: ...That's .8 below USYD Law Cut-off

Mum: ...

Dad: You should be ashamed of yourself

Mum: How much did your friends get?

Oh well, at least I'll make it into UTS Law *sigh of relief*

Wow, that was incredibly painful to read - couldn't u have tried to type complete words?....but, I guess you should be congratulated. I'm surprised anyone whose posts are that poor would get such a great UAI...

Ok ... thankyou very much for the congratulations, and yes I’m incredibly indebted to such useful and noteworthy suggestions of writing in complete sentences, using appropriate vocabulary and punctuation….

Does that sound better???;)
now you know how i recieved such a UAI???...Merry Christmas buddy and a Happy new Year... :)

That's not very nice. They should have embraced the moment and discussed the university course issue later on.

I did what lyounamu did and accelerated in 2u maths and x1. I then did x2 this year which meant my 95 in maths didn't count.

My Story...

5 mins to 9am i'm pacing back to front like a maniac

Dad:Your nervous...your nervous i can tell....

At 9 am trying to control my entire self from fainting or throwing up on the computer screen plus holding back dad from sinkin his face into the screen. Took me about freakin 20 mins to get through coz of damn site trafic. Finally my UAI randomly pops up...and i gawk at it

Dad: Hey 93.2.....not bad for going to a public school!((( )))

Brother: Shit wat happend to 98! I'm so disappointed in you....You killed the family name...((:)hammer:)))

Mom: Congrats...(hugs kisses )....

Me: Still gawking like an idiot tryna figure out how the heck did i get 93 with no band 6s..((:)speechless:)))

Before it sunk in every family member and family friend alive knew my UAI! ....Even the security guy....((:)confused:)))

Dad: Maybe your school's ranking pulled it down?

Me: ...
wow! that is an amazing achievement. I think my parent's reactions would go a little differently.
