Not all women choose to have children, so paying a woman in their twenties less than a man who has exactly the same background for that reason is just unfair.

Also, people tend to move between jobs and companies far more frequently these days, so a pay scale on the likelihood of an individual remaining with the company just won't work.

I didn't say it was right just that that is why, and yeah, people move around more these days and since men tend to be more aggressive in negotiations they end up with better salaries.

Indeed, but you know that's not the only factor.

I wonder how she feels about her boyfriend earning more than her in the SAME JOB with the SAME QUALIFICATIONS.

Yeah no.

I think the main point of that article was less about tangible things like wages and more about how the general culture of the workforce is still fairly patriachial. Forty years ago it was about fighting for equality on paper and establishing that women could do the same jobs as men. While equal wages would be nice, these days it's more about fighting the subtle sexism that still permeates the workplace.
You can't measure subtle sexism....

But we aren't doing the SAME COURSE. So we wont have the SAME QUALIFICATIONS.

Or something.
Creative Writing and Literature. So basically, you're going to work for yourself (eg. writer)? Isn't that a bit scary? No one left to blame but yourself if you aren't successful?
