guys i have a question, I was aiming for about 92+ final.... so I'm ranked like 10/20 with a raw of 74% (average of my exams throughout the year), in the hsc after going through solutions I should be getting in 72-76 range... would i be getting a 92+ final ?

well it would depend on how the others go, but 72-76 is definitely a 92+ for external

This 4U is so messed up. I remember when i was doing it if you get around 67+ raw mark, it gets heaps boosted. But like to 91 ? Then what's the difference between raw 90 and 95 o_o
I've been told that after the raw mark cut off for e4, it is a linear scale meaning -

Take for instance last years raw mark cut off - 65 aligned to 90.

There are 35 marks in between this cut off and in regards to HSC marks there are 10 (90,91,92 etc).

Basically what happens is every 3.5 marks gained = 1 extra HSC mark. It's relatively easy to get in the 90-93 range, but as you go over 93 it becomes harder and harder.

Because of this scale 65 raw aligns to 90, and 83 raw aligns to 95. It becomes harder and harder

So what would happen if I got a raw mark of 50-60?
(Still depressed about that :( )
How will I go?
(Ranked second in school in 4u)

You'll only lose 1 mark.

Doubt it, you'll be one of the few who managed to pretty much get it out. They'll be wanting to give you marks for it.
atleast a 10th of the state managed it.

May I ask from where you acquired this information? Is this from hard facts or from speculation?
It was a guess after seeing how many people of a sample size had gotten the answer.

I've taught quite a few Extension 2 students, and I can say that from my observations of a reasonably wide range of abilities, very few Extension 2 students would have gotten it.

Was your sample size from BOS posts?

What I've found personally is that those who had gotten it out tend to be a lot more confident and vocal, whereas those who did not get it out tend to be significantly less vocal. So the ratio of people who got it to people who didn't becomes quite skewed towards the side of those who got it.
