were they playing a set amount of games? for that iii) i got 0.99999 or 1 LOL
My friend told me (in language i will never understand) that because there are 2 players and not just 1, there is a way to calculate it using a series.

I integrated to get f(x) = 2x^2-3x+C. I solved that simultaneously with y=5x-7, since they intersect and formed the equation of 2x^2-8x+(C-7) = 0. I then used the discriminant = 0 to find C and got f(x)=2x^2-3x+1.

i got +4 at the end for C

Made an account just to rage at this question...

For the Q16 fish question,

Trout Population was = 375-e^0.04t

that means initial trout population (at t=0) was 375-e^0

or 374, right?

its just 1 mark in the many that i cannot possibly got, but why the heck would bos do something as stupid as a kaizo trap in here??
That's what I did.

It wasn't a difficult exam, just longer then the usual. 96 raw hopefully, but I screwed the volume question since I took the positive root 'y', also for absolute value one I accidentally wrote 0<m<=2 rather than m>=2 derp. Last part of last question took years to get out. The carp and trout question, you had to absolute the rate at which the trout were decreasing otherwise you'll get a negative log. Other then that it was pretty good exam overall, just waiting for extension 1 on thursday did 90% prep for it and 10% prep for 2u.

I got 1? but IDK how that was possible since wouldn't that mean that only one guy would win? or both of them win?

yeah man, im thinking if thats 2u, and the last couple of years for 3u was easy (especially last year, very easy) - 3U IS GOING TO BE A FUCKING NIGHTMARE!

But there was a question just like that in 1992 hsc I think and it was also in the Cambridge textbook and you solved it using series.

You are meant to make a series, find the common ratio and then calculate the limiting sum.

If it asked for exact value and I gave both the decimal and the exact will I still get the marks?

If 3u was written by the same person. Those who are doing it are going to get screwed.

Yeah, I used a series and got 1/11...

Used another method but got the same answer. I found the gradient of the tangent and worked it out from there.

TBH, okayish exam but so many fucking silly mistakes. The log question got me as well - hope they'll be gentle and give me 2/3

I did a limiting sum, so Pat can win on his 1st, 2nd 3rd,... role. 1/36 + (35/36)^2(1/36) + (35/36)^4(1/36) + .... Factorise 1/36 out and you should get 1/36{1 + (35/36)^2 + (35/36)^4 +....). Sum to infinity, 1/36{1/(1-(35/36)^2)} = 36/71
