Going to the gym alone (2 Viewers)

No offence but...

Guys-With someone, safety- work as hard as they can, might injure themselves.

Girls- Well..I haven't seen a lot bench dangerous weights on the bench press, so it's ok to go alone.

i go alone most of the time. don't really need a spotter for bench/squat, powercage takes care of me :eek:

I go with people about once a week. Im not going to follow someone elses routine, i stick to my own thing like glue, and I dont expect them to follow me. We usually end up coordinating things we're doing so we do them together (no homo) and use the benches at the same time. So when I go with someone only half the time im actually with them.
I prefer to go alone. I like to listen to my ipod get into a trance and just bang out all my sets and reps. Being at the gym alone is the most peaceful part of my day. Im more focused when im alone. The idea of working out alone was a barrier at the start, its part of the reason I didnt join the gym earlier. But after a few sessions its fine.
Its nice to have a spotter and/or someone to challenge me, every now and then though.

and 80kg bench is lightweight. :p

yeah me 2, but ive just talked to the some of the semi regulars and most of them are good blokes and take it seriously but light heartedly...if that is a word at the same time,

Just get a random to spot you. My gym is teaming with personal trainers who I see spotting people all the time.
yeah i frequently get randoms to spot me, but usually one of the pts (who also happens to be my mate from school) spots me.

going alone is better, youre more focused and its more individual, like youre doing this thing FOR YOU, and not to socialise or any of that shit, its just you, trying to better you

Lately ive gone to a Back, Chest, Legs, Arms/Shoulders split, putting my bi, tri and shoulder exercises from each of the bigger muscle group days on its own day.

Weight - 85kgs
Bench - 90kgs
Squat - 150kgs
Deadlift - 160kgs

Soo I went on my own yesterday and I'm going later today. I think it'll be fine. Yeah, you're right I spend less time mucking around and chatting!

I go by myself all the time.
I sometimes get conscious of other people, esp when I'm using weight machines, and stuff, but they shouldn't care about what I'm doing, and my technique and stuff.
And it's good, because I just plug in my headphones and run away on the treadmill :)

Girls should do weights. Rather than run themselves to just skin and bone on the treadmill. Squat and you will have the legs and arse we all like.

Youre not gonna turn into a female arnold Schwarzenegger and grow a clit-dick squatting 30kgs for 10 reps.
