I have heard some lost prophets and actually have some at the drive in on this computer, my point is that its not really heavy, its more just screaming.

lost prophets only scream on high notes!!! as do at the drive in!!! how are they not heavy??????

Heavy is a relative term, and relative to the rest of my stuff they're light as, but yeah, depends on how they contrast with whatever else you listen to.

Has anyone in this forum heard any hardcore then you will no the true meaning of heavy punk

bands like

refused
sick of it all
atreyu
the comeback kid

and many other good bands

Hardcore is pretty much the hardest, fastest, most intense punk...Black Flag, Minor Threat, Bad Brains, Rollins Band...

I think if you combine all the music in the world and rate it's heaviness, and then average the "heaviness" of each band, then most punk bands would learn towards the "heavy" side.

It's usually not as heavy as heavy metal, hence the term, "heavy metal"
but there are some pretty heavy punk bands.

I mean, emo-core and screamo are both types of punk? no? They're pretty heavy.
(bands like Atreyu, for example)

the name emo-core just pisses me off. its basically hardcore music with sappy lyrics (not that i sometimes mind that, but these genre names are lame).. and i guess screamo is a derivative of that. only they scream obviously. like taking back sunday, the used etc.
