Maths Extension 2: 2nd out of about 45 (fucked up first assessment)

Maths Extension 1: 3rd out of about 100 (tests are not challenging at all, so it's a matter of accuracy, not mathematical ability. 1 mark easily = 3-4 ranks)

Chemistry: 2nd out of about 90 (fucked up first assessment badly)

Biology: 9th out of about 45 (fucked up half yearly exam badly)

English: 91 out of about 140. (There was a big miscommunication which resulted in some people being dragged down. In my case, 14 -> 91)
Eh wth; argue lol

I'm doing well in most of my subjects 20-30's except for english im 16th our of the whole standard year group so I'm Happy. My marks are about 75-85 without little effort so hopefully with me doing some more studying I can improve my ranks and marks.

what kind of miscommunication would cause that drastic a change in ranks? o_o
Our class was told that a big chunk of the half yearly exam didn't count at all towards our HSC assessment. So we skipped it. Turns out it did count, and the most heavily as well.

Last year, the whole 15 mark creative story didn't count at all, but nobody skipped it because they weren't 'warned'. We were 'warned', then backstabbed.

My school is a Senior Collage, with only years 10-12.

Even so, my teachers decided that year 10's needed their Half Yearly reports back before us, so we are getting our year 11 reports at the end of Term 2 (if we are lucky).

Hmm

My half yearly reports were pretty gud xD

English Advanced - 98% (1/73) xD (Our average was 80% as well and we only hav done 2 assessments so far)
English Ext 1 - 88% (1/20) (Average was 82%)
Ancient History - 87% (5/27) :S
Legal Studies - 91% (=1/25) :p
Economics - 66% (2/27) - I hate this subject, i'm so badly dropping it. Why am I coming 2nd without trying or studying. FML
Mathematics - 94% (8/83) - Meh
Mathematics Ext 1 - 86% (29/77) ~
Studies of Religion 1 - 99% (1/136) :)

My basic advice to you for English is: If your doing an essay in the exam --> DON'T DO THE ESSAY ON THE SPOT!! Have a Preplanned essay that you've memorized, done a few times, asked the teacher about etc. Make sure you answer the question though, so you might need to improvise

For Legal Studies: FIND RELEVANT CASES, LEGISLATION AND MEDIA REPORTS TO BACK UP YOUR ARGUMENT!

It seems to me that your strength lies in maths and the sciences - not the written and spoken word. Maybe you might want to spend more time working on the subjects you are weaker at.

All the best :p

For Legal Studies: READ THE TEXTBOOK AND WRITE OUT NOTES. This is the best way I find to learn. I read textbook then right out heaps of notes on it. But make them notes that you will remember. Not heaps of notes, not a lot. Maybe a few sentences, a few definitions here and there etc.
