The phase is sure post hsc induced. normally, Alan is a very nice boy. Infact, he won the nice boy award at the NBA ceromony for nice boys.

Isnt that cool?

Marcus thinks that this event may in truth have been for bad boys who like pretending to be good boys :p. Marcus then asks why Alan was there.

Marcus tells Lynn that he has heard of other cases where children speak more than one language as a child, but forget the second as their language centre expands and common usage is confined to a main language. Both languages, however, remain as formative elements in that persons subconscious. Marcus wonders if Lynn can remember speaking Mandarin as a child.

She does, as a matter of fact remember speaking in mandarin, but cannot "hear" what she was saying.

Lynn is tossing up whether to watch Mary Queen of Scots on ABC. She loves history - particularly of that era and of the Renaissance - but finds that particular bit of Scottish history extremely unsettling and extremely unfortunate. Lynn cannot bear to watch.

Marcus is half Scottish. His father side are a branch of the Keith clan, of which Mary Queen of Scots was a member.

Lynn sincerly hopes that the... dire events of Queen Mary's time have not passed down through the bloodline.

On the other hand, does that mean that Marcus is an heir to the Scottish throne - albiet somewhat down the line?

Justin "hid" his major work. Lynn's major work is definately up on BOS somewhere, but will she reveal where it is? *Lynn acts all immature*

The bloodlines have changed so much since then that it would be impossible to say whether or not Marcus is in line for the Scottish throne! Marcus, however, does have the possibility of"royal blood" on both sides. His mothers family are descended from the royal family of Corinth (who ironically eventually became peasants). At most, in the feudal system, Marcus is a noble.

Marcus asks Lynn to kindly desist being immature for the maintenance of the common good of the thread; to avoid one of Marcus' bombastic outbursts, which invariably turn ugly.

Mary Queen of Scots on ABC is suppose to be alright. Alan read the review and had planned to watch. But is now too lazy to get off the chair.

Lynn is impressed by Marcus' lineage, particularly as she has NO idea what her own is.

Lynn huffs and puffs, but in the end points out that her major work (complete, with typos) is in the BOS Young Writer's Showcase in the main EE2 forum. Her Reflection Statement is there as well.

It is an interesting history, but in Lynn's opinion, is so full of unfortunate circumstances that it is painful, even if watching a well-made documentary/short film. Lynn personally thinks Mary would have been much better off if she had been able to stay in France. She was not prepared for Scotland and was literally a pawn.

A female ruler times would have had to have been someone as strong as Queen Elizabeth, who was a marvellous politician. Plus, Queen Elizabeth was widely loved and had a strong support system - sort of - whilst Queen Mary had nothing but her "Four Maries".

Marcus thanks Lynn kindly, and he suggests that she discover her lineage by going around, asking her relatives and drawing up a family tree. Marcus has discovered that it is actually quite fun. Marcus discovered that he has over 200 first cousins on his mothers' fathers' side alone.

PS: Marcus did not complete his family tree.

Marcus wonders if Lynn or Alan have heard of the Irish clan leader and pirate queen, Grace O'Maley.

Lynn is amused by Marcus' amount of first cousins.

Unfortunately, Lynn does not think she will ever get to do a family tree as a) She is not particularly close to overseas relatives except for mum's sibling's children, and b) Her family is not fond of talking about the past at all (bad family relationships, on both sides). Lynn's mother has only mentioned Lynn's great-grandmother once in a fleeting reference, for example.

Meh.

Marcus would like to make an aphorism to comfort Lynn:

"It doesn't matter where you came from; it matters who you are."

Lynn thinks that she might have come across name once or twice, but does not actually know very much about Grace O'Maley. If Marcus wants to tell another story however... :)
