what do you guys think is likely to come up? like for crime, family and world order
for crime i think def investigation process, young offenders or international law is pre likely
family, i think like care and protection might pop up or compliance

so how would you respond to a question about international crime with 4 paras? because im feeling like crime will likely be young offenders or international crime as well but i dont get how you can write 4 paragraphs on something with 2 syllabus points

I’m guessing discretion CIP or non-legal CIP or international crime but generally they like to do the opposite of what everyone’s preparing for and scared of so maybe not IC

oh hopefully ur teacher doesnt mark my HSC then 😭
and for my essays like u can see them, but they're not exactly what i write in my assessments, I just make sure I know the law inside and out and what its strenghts and weaknesses are. For instance, for PO's i would know like the amendment what was the issue before the amendment, how theyre made and so on, as well as their FDR. And for their weaknesses I would use a case such as Parker v Leclair (2024) where the father got full custody in the PO because the mother was abusive and then ill just link that to how that serves the best interest of the child and so on. And then for the weaknesses I would include another case like McLeady v McLeady where this guy breaches the PO multiple times and use that case to support my argument how PO's dont promote compliance and how they also don't deal with compliance effectively because when the PO is breached the court just imposes another one which is "slow, costly and potentially traumatic"(Media article I forgot which one LMAO). This is how I always structure my essays regardless of the topic and its been a success for my options. I really hope this helps on how you structure yours, I would always recommend a furthermore to show more understand and a really solid grip on the law in your explain part of the essay.

And ofc I can read one of yours, if you still want my essays let me know and I'll send them through!
lol yeah ive literally been trying to enforce a parenting order for almost 3 years because 1 party goes MIA and you have to jump through 10 million hoops and different applications and afford procedural fairness to infinity before the court will make orders in absentia

You can make up a title, usually i just do (SMH, 2024) but if thats not good just do ('Why youth crime is still rising', SMH, 2024)
literally just anything that sounds like it could reasonably be real, they wont check it, if you want fake statistics shitting on something for your argument, just use media buzzwords- [important individual/organisation] [slams/drops bombshell/backs down/urges/could] [topic]; 'NSW Law Society slams new bail laws with scathing review paper (The Guardian, 2021) lols

I've written out full media titles like once ever I usually just drop the finding or a quote and then (ABC, 2020) or "The Guardian (2025) noted that domestic abusers extend financial abuse through "six-figure legal fees" " etc and I've never been told to stop doing that.

I reckon for Crime they might be evil and ask one of the small dotpoints on the right side of the syllabus (e.g. Jury System) if not then they're probs gonna do International Crime let's be real. I think Family they might honestly go really broad like last year with rights of family members, maybe like "protection of vulnerable persons"?? Alternatively I could see them pairing together 2 contemporary issues in a question like they did in W.O. last year. For WO I think political negotiation, persuasion and use of force and then maybe a full R2P question or state sovereignty.
