Instrumental practice is cumplosory if you want to play your particular insturment well. Nevertheless, I find it such a bore and can not really be bothered. Currently preparing for grade 8 ameb, and I'm "ment" to be practicing 1+ hour a day. But who can seriously bothered. Truth be told, I'm only practising 30 minutes a day...

i play flute and am preparing for 6th grade. i know how you feel about not wanting to practise.. i felt that way about piano... i hated practising and walked away from my 4th grade exam with a C.... i quit there and then.

however i dont feel the same way about flute.. somehow its different. i practise whenever i get the chance and have learnt my whole program of pieces for grade 6 as well as half of them for grade 7. scales are another story though... I HATE SCALES!!! that it what i hate most about practise.. but yea....

i totally agree with you on that one. What is this meaningless torture of scales. I swear if I ever find the person who invented it... or there grave for that matter.

I hate scales, rarely to almost never practice them. I know it's a good finger exercise, but who can seriously be bothered. It's just the same thing OVER and OVER again, just moved up or down a few tones/semiton, sharp here flat there and different fingering. Pointless, utter waste of time. No one's gonna ask you about your scale credibilites in the future, while playing pieces on the other hand can get you very far...

haha well i have to totally agree with you, i find myself constantly getting distracted all the time when I even attempt to try to practice piano. I finished my eighth grade 3 years ago and i didn't even manage to get 30 mins of practice in! Never could be bothered... the only time i'm ever bothered to practice is when the exam is like really close! I'm doing my Amus soon in may and I hardly practiced throughout the year.. i guess i'm paying for it now in the holidays..

not at all. i could guess id have to spend maybe 20mins a week on each song. and probs 30mins a day to keep my hands familiar with the instrument.

really depends on my mood. somedays its 2-3hrs, sometimes ill go a few days without playing.

1/ piano and viola
2/ about 2 for piano i guess. i dropped viola for this year.
3/ LOL. how about 1hr a week for piano , 1/2hr viola a month if im lucky!
4/ lmus and 7th

well atm its only about 1hr a week. before exams its mass practice time!, maybe 3hrs a day.

i had the opportunity to take AMUS exam in yr10 ( i cbb and quit lol)

then i started playing guitar for a year, then i stopped..now i suck

then i started playing flute for few months, then i stopped...

you don't know how admired i am of people who are good at musicla instruments.

i just want to be good at piano so that i can play some korean music (And sing it at the same time....that would be my ultimate goal

i USED TO spend all day sitting down at the piano, listening to dream theater and attempting to play it XDD (if u hav heard dream theater's music, its almost impossible lol)
