Re: Semester 1 Chatter

I usually buy food from Broadway deli. [Seeing it's only a short walk from the main quad :)]

If I'm in between classes then maybe a yoghurt from the Kick bar near Broadway, so there's hardly the occasion where I'm forced to buy slosh from Wentworth.

I just want to eat a kebab or a pide (from that new Wentworth place), but I'd rather go to Broadway for it than get it from uni.

The only food I've brought from uni is yoghurt from the health food place in Wentworth. The best one is the berry one.
I always bring my own lunch, because I like knowing what's in my food and the conditions in which it was made.
Broadway kebabs are nothing special. Yeeros in Marrickville is great if you have a couple of hours free in the afternoon.

Jem: Coffee at Manning is generally pretty bad. Too weak on the bottom level, too blah on the middle level. :(

I heard Wentworth was meant to be great for food with all it's new outlets. I forgot my lunch yesterday and looking at the food at manning was painful. Even the coffee sux on the middle level!
It's a good building for food, but mot of that food is now offered by private businesses, so I can still safely say that the Union's catering arm is pathetic :).

Yeah unfortunatley the only decent food on campus are the private ones - which shows that Union Catering has to pick up its game.

Which wont happen. The union wont improve services cause it'll look like everything they have said about VSU is false.

Where's this engineering cafe, and are the burgers any good? All of the food I've tried on campus so far has been horrible.

Is there anywhere on campus with remotely decent coffee? I've tried a few stands around campus, & coffee from Manning - so foul. I don't want to have to walk across to Broadway for coffee in my breaks. Only thing I buy on campus now is bottled drinks.

My fave find is Newtown Thai II, nice & close, cheap, reasonable quality meals.

Yeah i heard very good things about the thai place down the road, but i have yet to go there.

The engo cafe is just outside the engineering library, burgers, chips and drink for $6.40 i think. Asides from that, yeah i usually go down to broadway or to the lansdowne if i wanna eat out. (most of the time i bring a packed lunch though)

Re: Semester 1 Chatter

But who wants to walk all the way to that side of campus??

I would have thought that you, as an Engo, wouldn't know where Ralphs was... :p

Re: Semester 1 Chatter

haha i spend more time on the non-engo side of the campus.
This sem the majority of my classes are in carslaw, chem building, bosche, the quad and the education building. I only have 1 class on engo side.

Is the uni trying to assist engos to meet new ppl and discover the whole new world outside our geekville?

Yeh been going to the Lansdowne for years, the food steaks can be really hit-and-miss depending on who's working, chicken always seems good.

Packed lunches are definitely the way to go, I just like to have backup plans for the days when I've slept in :D

Hahaha; lefties.

How many people had SRC freaks come in and try to sell 'The Movement' to you? The first one I had today was the education officer for (a)NUS. It's never a bright idea to try and get Commerce kids to support socialism. The whole of Eastern Avenue was laughing at the North shore kids laughing at her.
I did my bit: I hurled abuse.

It was different in Chris' ECOP. No laughing. No shouting. Just a room full of commies soaking in their socialist soup.

I can't wait for tomorrow. I'm looking to get into some mud-slinging.
I'm bringing a drum...

they are getting a bit boring and persistant, i dont give a fuck much anymore, and i'm a lefty. NUS, SRC and the Union should focus on trying to maintain services, rather than spending money on campainging against something that wont be changed in the next 2 years at least, and should completley stop funding any protests not DIRECTLY related to students (i.e. HECS, Youth Allowance)

and when the fuck r we meeting, i get bored on campus, no friends
