Is Woodgate still injuried? (Btw, Woodgate, Southgate... any more *gates for England's Central defenders?)

They can also recall Upson, I think, considering BC recent run.

Edit -

i despise the Nevilles

-----------------James
Mills-------Terry---Campbell--Bridge
Beckham-Scholes-Gerrard----Dyer
-----------Beattie----Rooney

throw on Joe Cole and Lampard later on, they'll go good.

no no no!

how did Upson get in there!!!!

dun play rooney, he ain't suitable as a lone striker, in fact, rooney is known as a supporting striker..like henry

a risk, play beattie ahead of rooney...(1.cos beattie is a centre forward more than rooney 2. beattie is in awesome form)

take Upson for terry, terry is good...

As much as I'm a Chelsea fan... Terry is part of what I can only describe as a leaky defense. In fact I'd pull out Bridge and Neville and chuck in Terry... and have a back three. And maybe throw in Cole to Midfield for the sake of it.

Beattie may be in great form ... but only domestically. When it comes down to it, Rooney has more chances delievering.

I'd use a 3-5-2 formation. And just have three Centre backs.

James

Campbell, Terry, Upson

Beckham, Gerrard, Lampard, Hargreaves

(Cole or Beattie)
Scholes, Rooney

The team has already been announced. I'd say sometime earlier today. But as for the first XI, we'll just have to wait and see. (I doubt Owen will recover, tho.)

Your team was very similar to my team (esp Midfield). Ref a few posts above.

England, as Southgate put it, are overrated and in terms of achievements - ordinary. They actually haven't found players to play Left Wing... besides the possiblity of Thompson from the SPL. :p And Dyer just isn't good enough, imo.

But it's not really surprising... just look at the Azzuri and Spanish... the memories of Japan/Korea 2002! :D (Or better still France's EPL squad progressing ... well, rather not progressin'.)

the 3-5-2 i think will never work with the current england team, their two central mids aernt defensive minded enough. they would essentially need two viera type midfielders for it to work. I dont think gerrard, butt or lampard have what it takes right now.

Looks like Owen is gonna play, theyd idnt even call up vassel.

GK James
DL Bridge
DR Neville, G
DC Campbell
DC Terry
ML Cole, J/Hargreeves
MR Beckham
MC Gerrard
AMC Scholes
FC Owen (assuming he's fit)
FC Heskey
