A conundrum...
Need help choosing subjects for HSC:

I'm definitely doing these:
English Ext 1
Maths Ext 1
Chemistry
Physics


Now should I do 4unit english which means doing 11units or just stick with 3u english - 10units?

The reasoning behind my desire for 4u english is twofold - I'm good at it and I like English. xD

But with 11units, it means one unit won't be counted. So say I get a good mark for 4u eng, but do average in chem (85ish? least confident subject), halving is 43/50 - won't that be bad for my ATAR?
Would it therefore be more wise to just do 10 units and concentrate on chem, effectively achieving a better mark and thus a better ATAR? (but at the detriment of losing my english.... )


Decisions, decisions...

Drop down to advanced english.
and do 4 unit maths.

Your ATAR will skyrocket if you do well.

Do 4U english if you want to do the major. If you don't want to do it, then stick with 3U

Is your 43/50 in Chem + your 1 unit of ext English better than 86/100 in Chem? If so, pick English.

In all honesty, just pick it anyway and if it's too much, drop it. If you're good at it and you like it, why not? I fucking regret not picking English Ext...I'm #1 in Advance and I don't even do Ext -.-...

i agree. you might as well start it and if you cant be bothered doing you major woork then quit. i heard 4u doesnt take that long and then your free. others freak over it. people at my school in yr 11 have already done drafts for their major work yr 12 and now all they do next year is go over it. goodluck.

exactly, if you LIKE it, then do it, cause its better to take the oppurtunity then later mull over what you didnt do.
