Excellent, thank you for that. :) I guess to access the e-book I'd have to purchase the textbook brand new, in order to get a code or something?
Correct. Though it may be worthwhile enquiring at the bookshop as to whether you can purchase the e-book by itself.

While it is possible to concentrate entirely on lecture notes, I recommend buying this because it contains most necessary information (and has summaries) and is an interesting read in its own right if you're interested in psychology. The e-book is great, I actually never used my printed copy because my laptop weighs less.
Lecture notes > Textbook when you get around to studying it.

If you're short on cash, don't buy the textbook - and just read it in the Library when you need it.

In my entire undergrad experience there wasn't a single course where a textbook was even marginally needed.

MMAN2700
Fundamentals of Engineering Thermodynamics 6E + WileyPlus @ $142.16
(Prescribed, though I have an electronic 5E somewhere...)
THERMODYNAMIC & TRANSPORT PROPERTIES OF FLUIDS STEAM TABLES @ $17.96
(Prescribed, "found" a copy lol)
MMAN3200
MODERN CONTROL ENGINEERING 4ED @ $121.46
(Recommended)
MMAN3300
KINEMATICS DYNAMICS & DESIGN OF MACHINERY 2E @ $130.46
(Recommended)
MMAN3400
Mechanics of Materials SI Version 7ED @ $120.56
(Prescribed, but reusing the textbook from second year)

Total for prescribed: $142.16
Could pay: $0.00

Hopefully someone can answer this for me; would all courses per semester have around the same lecture/tute/lab times as the previous years?
haha i wish...if only they would be...

The doctor said I wouldn't have so many nosebleeds if I kept my finger out of there.

What do uni students usually do in the holidays?
club, game, gym

i can agree with that.
textbooks are often merely 'further reading and references'.
especially when they are listed as recommended, a waste of $150 apparently.

If only we could pirate the textbooks
engineering ones arent too hard to find

Ugh, me too. :( If I bought all my 'prescribed' textbooks new from the bookshop, I'd be saying goodbye to ~$400...and then I imagine there'll be course packs on top of that. Hope I don't actually have to buy them all. Or at least, not brand new.
My prescribed texts for Semester 1 come to $700!

To be honest, I've heard people sharing links to entire textbooks scanned... how you can read a textbook on a computer screen as an image though..?!

Well you can... a little search engine called Google can find PDF/Ebook versions of virtually any book (including most books)...
These books are just newly released so I dont think they would exist.

With reading long sets of text on computer screen, I find that really hard since you have to focus on the computer screen for a long period of time but I'd rather do that then have to spend $100 on a copy.
