Steps of creating a trangenic species..

A useful gene and the chromosomes it is on is identified

The gene is isolated or cut of its DNA strand
The gene is inserted into the cell for another organism, sometimes a vector is used..

easy peesy
rarely they asked for this..

they only ask aabout the examples of trangenic species and the effect on society

Can someone just explain me Beadle and Tatum experiment..
In short

One gene - one protein:
They mutated strains of bread mould using xrays. Each strain lacked the ability to produce certain vitamins or amino acids. They identified specific enzymes that were rendered inactive by each mutation they had induced. They then bread (as in breed, not the food) this with wild mould and observed the inheritance of the defect. They established that each mutant strain varied from the normal wild strain with a change that had occurred on one gene.


Altered to one gene - one polypeptide:
The enzymes that Tatum and Beadle studied consisted of one polypeptide, but many proteins are made up of more than one polypeptide
