Just saw that. I love Ponting and like him in the team but it's definitely a justifiable drop... he was very lucky to even in the test team but he came good eventually. Won't surprise me if he retires officially from ODI's, and maybe in Tests while he's at it.

Well if he barely has chances of being picked, I don't think he has much of a choice :p

Re: The Official Cricket Thread

Australia seems to be going as shit as India (lol) in that match anyway. Oh well, India might succeed in the Asia cup because the conditions are relatively similar to what they excel in.

Re: The Official Cricket Thread

It's India's fault they're not in the final. In that tie against Sri Lanka Dhoni was blocking like it was a fucking test match.

Re: The Official Cricket Thread

Yeah Dhoni delayed it way too much in that match, should've won it in the 47th-48th over buy he was just delaying it to be a hero, and screwed it up. Ahh well, but they played really well in the final match against Lanka. I'm glad India dropped Sehwag for the Asia cup.

Re: The Official Cricket Thread

Dravid has retired, I hope he continues to have a significant role in world cricket. In addition to his enormous cricketing abilities (which always seem to go under-appreciated by Australians who understandably preferred Sachin) he was without doubt the most dignified, respectable man in cricket for the better part of his career. A brilliantly intelligent man with a legendary work ethic, he ought have been their longtime captain but his ascendancy to the rule unfortunately came at a time where Indian cricket was in turmoil due to the squabbling between Ganguly, Chappell, Harbajhan and Sehwag.

Heard about that and was disappointed however at the same time relieved.

I think Dravid is awesome and he was a really good thing for cricket and Indian cricket but it's good to see that he realises it's time to move on.
