Australia v England in the finals. I really thought that New Zealand were going to win today...so credit to England for being able to turn their horrendously bad form around.

Hopefully they can keep up the good form and contribute to an entertaining finals series. I'm still predicting a 2-0 win to Australia though.

ABM last night. The guys looked hot in their suits, and their partners looked just as gorgeous in their gowns. Lara Bingles dress was my fav, and her boyfriend is def my fave <3

they really need to re-configure this summer series. it is far too long and in the end
it gets very boring. my first suggest would be to make it shorter. a 12 game series between three nations and a 3 game finals series is way too long.
i think they should make it a 6 game series or a nine game series. this would make it shorter, more interesting and open the series up a bit because after so goddamn many games if one team gets on top it is not very good.
so after a 6 game series or (possibly 9), i think the finals series should be first to two, but then if the third game is needed it is played as a 20-20 match. hmm maybe. it would make a very interesting and exciting end to the series but would it be satisfying? if a team wins 2 - 0, then they should play the 20-20 game anyway.

anyways, you get the idea. any other suggestions about the series? (teams, points system, number of games, format?), ways to make it better?

I agree. By the time the last few games come around, no one really gives a shit anymore. I suggest cutting the series back to only 3 matches per opponent, keeps the series a bit more fresh, shorter and makes every match a little more important. I fear unless they do something soon it'll turn into a T20 tournament.

This side has great balance. You have 4 very capable bowlers, solid batting down to 9, a specialist spinner and a part timer in Pup if the going gets tough.

Maybe so in ODI cricket, however his captaincy adds another dimenson to an otherwise simple, bits and pieces team.

leadership skills are invaluable. morale booster too...

your side is okay, it's pretty good. as we have a left arm paceman in there too..but tait is doing AWESOME. and he's bowling mega quick!

Ponting is probably the best captain in terms of leadership ability. He has an excellent ability to lift his team no matter what the occasion and getting the best out of his players and keeping intensity all day. Vaughan is a very good tactical captain though.

Tait is bowling well yes, I don't think he's earnt a spot in the World Cup squad yet though. Too erratic to consider bowling him with Lee in the near future.

I don't think tait should go to the world cup. or atleast, i don't think he should be in the starting 11. i mean, yes, he can bowl well and be unpredictable for the batsmen but he can also be unpredictable and bowl like crap. i'd prefer stuart clark over him any day.

In the end it comes to do, what you need a leader? or another batsman. I mean we saw their in that match, Fleming as we know is a good leader, but his lack of batting skill cost him the match.

Where as Ponting, isnt really leader only reason he got the job, was cause Warne screwed up the job was always heading towards Warney. But he is still sucessful, because he is god damn fine batsman and of course he is able manage pressure of doing both which require some skill. Of course overtime you get good with what your doing and Ponting has improved vastly his leadership skills. And now Ponting will all his experience is a very good captain and batsman.

Don't worry about that mate, I think 90% of the Barmy Army packed up and went home after the 5-0 Ashes drubbing. Haven't heard any singing from them in the one day series.

totally agree with this, especially with "getting the best out of his players"

many examples come to mind...... the most recent of course would be Brad Hodge..... if you watched the innings you would know Hodge struggled early on.... but Ponting was encouraging him all along, telling him to keep at it

also letting Hodge get the a test double hundred when he could have declared earlier

and earlier in the Ashes, i think maybe game1 or 3, when he allowed Langer to score a century, when his spot was in danger, before declaring
