There's life after the HSC but they didn't want to make a huge difference to the name, lest we confuse it for something good. It's called HECS

Advanced English? The messed up thing is that I'll do better in that then I will in 4u.

HSC is the biggest wank I've been througth in my life. Although School Certificate Geography comes close.

That would undoubtedly require 99+ in Advanced English then :)

SC History was worse :(...I didn't mind geography too much, but History was bad - memorise this date, memorise this guy and what he did...pfft. To be honest, I didn't really care about what Jack Lang did or what the Asian Invasion was (being Asian myself).

I got 73 for History and 72 for Geography, so I picked on Geography.

But yeah they both sucked. :p

You worried about the SC!!! and studied for it!! wtf is this? It doesnt count for anything. Looking back now, would you?

Anyway I think my approach would be to take a little bit more time on questions 1-5

about 80 mins, that leaves roughly 30 mins for each subsequent question 6-8. and then perhaps 10 mins at the end for misc.

What was said earlier about most students getting 15/15 for question 1 and 1/15 for question 8 is true. Go to the HSC online site and there is a link reviewing one of the past HSC exams for 4unit and it explains everything there (not Jeff Geha)

Cannot afford to lose easy marks in 4unit. 1-5 should be around 90%+, ~70+/75 and question 6 should not be THAT bad perhaps 10/15 and that is already roughly 80/90 (say 75/90 to be on the safe side, even 70/90) with 2 hard questions left. And say you happen to scab5-10 marks total for both questions, that is 80+/120 and that i assume is a band 6!!

Too easy!! haha

hmm, were the 1990/1991 hscs easier than the recent ones? caz i got pretty good in those compared to other ones i've done.

also, what would a 100/120 raw score give for the hsc?

There's no way to tell what 100/120 would align to, but my guess is ~95-96 given that something in the vicinity of 75/120 would probably align to a Band E4. Either way if you can get 100/120, you're doing very well :).

I've done papers from 2000-2004, and based on my marks the most difficult was 2000 and then 2003, followed by 2004, 2001 and 2002. Nevertheless, my marks aren't really anything to go by  - I'm not too sure about pre-2000 papers though.

LaCe, nobody mentioned studying for the SC. Calm down.

And equally, I'm sure you'll look back at the HSC and think "wtf did I study for that?" ;)

84/97/102/85/91 - quite inconsistent really, but I'd be hoping for at least 95/120 in the 2005 exam which should (fingers crossed) align to around 95/100. I was a bit disappointed with my result in 2004 and somewhat so in 2000, but to be entirely honest 2003 just plain drop-kicked me

yeh im getting like 75-85 raw marks, so thats like 90ish aligned (guessing of course)? except for 1999, which must be the easiest hsc ever devised.

I remember one guy posting on here who said that his friend got no more than 85/120 and ended up with 93. He may not be a credible source, but hopefully he's right. If he is right, then I think something in the vicinity of 73/120 would align to 90 :D

I've done the exact same thing and I'd have to agree with those marks - 2000 was bitchy... as for the papers from 95-99 they are relatively ezy...
And id have to say for 100/120 ur looking at about 96/97, considering top of the state gets about 110-114...
