I'm the opposite of a wanker. I'm frank and honest about what I think and I don't go out of my way to try and prove to everyone how intelligent and well read I am.

One of the most ridiculous taboos in the human world is the way we are taught to be ashamed of our basic functions as creatures. We all poo, wee, masturbate, have sex etc. and yet we are taught to be ashamed of these things as if doing them were in some way wrong (well at least for the last two). These acts, which everyone does, are put to the side of our conciousness because nobody talks about them. I mean even princesses shit.

Whats wrong with child pornography? why should looking at a picture ever be immoral, let alone illegal? you arent harming anyone by doing this.

I would say that the only difficulty would be the decreased ability of children to give autonomous consent. They don't really know what's happening or have the proper reasoning capacity to think it through. Though it is never black and white.

Well, if we're all honest here, what's wrong with anything on the list? It's all what everyone personally agrees with. It's essentially what the masses agree with that are laws, which is why over time as societies views get changed so do laws.

you misinterpreted, i am saying whats wrong with looking at or possessing a picture of child pornography.

Obviously i believe producing it is wrong, as it falls under "sex with a child" which i marked as immoral [the only thing i marked as immoral, funnily enough]

What i don't get is how looking at a picture, no matter how disgusting the content, could ever be considered immoral and on the same punishment scale as rape and murder.

Oh okay. Well I suppose if you think that possessing it causes the creation of it then that would make it wrong. Its all about whether you think the two things are separate or not. But certainly possessing it is further away from moral wrongness than actually creating it!

1- If it were made a legal, taxable profession then I would have no problem with it. This is because it would be a lot safer for the prostitutes and the clients. It would be monitored and incidences of abuse and mortality would most likely decline
2- My subjective opinion is that adultery is wrong. It is so deceptive and can cause so much hurt to so manny people. Families are affected, not just the adulterer and their spouse. This, to me, is morally wrong.
3- I've experienced first hand what drug use can do to a family. My uncle and my cousin were addicted to drugs, they were the cause of my uncles death. I agree with someones earlier comment that alcohol causes just as much damage, I think alcohol consumption should be regulated more readily than it is. And yes, i drink, but i have the common sense to know when enough is enough.
4- Beastiality is italicized because i could never do it, however whether it is MORALLY wrong... I am on the fence on this

CP and sex with children are both bolded because it is clear exploitation of the child. The child (i think specific ages are needed) is not mature enough to give consent, and if consent cannot possibly be given on behalf of the child in these situations. It is mentally scaring and can lead to mental health issues later in life. (Close family friend is a research psychologist, 'tis what studies show)

Casual sex it italicized because it is somewhat demeaning to yourself and the other person. I am atheist, so religion plays no part in this. I just think sex should be between two people who have atleast SOME feelings for eachother. Plus, it's usually better/more intense when you dig the other person.

agreed

The means doesn't justify the ends, but it still tarnishes the morality of it.

For me possessing child porn is akin to possessing snuff.
By 'buying' it or even expressing an interest would encourage it's creation.

This is poor logic. My grandmother likes diamonds and she buys them all the time. She doesnt care that she is creating a demand for them, and over in africa, villagers are being enslaved and murdered and the money from these diamonds is fueling a war.

Is it immoral to buy diamonds? should she be arrested? after all, if a viewer of child porn is somehow complicit in the rape of one child because they created a demand, surely she should be on more serious charges for being complicit in fuelling wars.

This anaology is only dealing with the most serious of offences though. Lets list some things that are currently considered to be child pornography in Australia and dont require the harm of a minor:

writing a short story for my own personal use on my computer set in ancient greece that features a 14yr old bride[as was the norm then] and her husband on their wedding night.

Cartoon pictures that are erotic in nature.

porn of girls who are 18 or older, but who APPEAR to be young because they are slender and little and wearing makeup and clothing to emphasise their youth.

Digitally manipulated erotic photos to make it appear as if under age girls are naked, even something as simple as cutting out the head of miley cyrus and sticking it on the body of a porn star will have me put in prison.

being bored in class and drawing as a joke a picture of lisa blowing millhouse.

Surely viewing and possesing such couldnt be considered immoral, right?

IMO you are not causing any direct harm to anyone by viewing a picture.

I agree.. I was just drawing the logical connection for people to either agree or disagree with.

Nothing says 'I love you' like a superficial and overvalued rock clawed from the guts of the Earth by African slave labour.
But I am not directly affected by this. I don't know any Africans involved, it is on the other side of the Earth. Could not give a shit about diamonds either.

There is a line between possessing and creating child porn. But they often overlap in the way they can victimise kids lives. This logic forces me to consider what will happen in the future if any interest was made, thus any value on the market for anything more hardcore than artificial pwn.

This is more or less why I am a vegetarian (and why I don't buy blood diamonds). If the industry is corrupt then the informed consumer is complicit.

Yeah I think its realising not necessarily that what you are doing is morally wrong but that what you are doing is apart of a chain of events.

It already is a legal taxable profession.
