lol I wasn’t being that serious but I’m saying that maths isn’t really necessary to be compulsory, but English makes sense as literally any country will have a language/literature variant specific to them. the work sucks sure but both can be equal in terms of importance, being that maths beyond practical applications isn’t that needed

My solution is to make English compulsory to study in year 12, but you can opt out of it counting towards your ATAR. This satisfies all the English merchants who think it's a necessary skill to analyse Shakespeare's morning wood on an overcast Tuesday in 1611, and gives normal people the freedom of choice, by not letting a subject they despise impact the literal course of their lives

we don't use any retarded hsc english writing skills. i think a good test of actual english youd encounter everywhere is the SAT english section.

nobody gives a shit about regurgitating essays on a book you haven't even read. seriously, literature is incredibly useless.

trust me, when you're writing emails or comprehending or writing scientific texts, fucking retarded HSC english literature skills will NOT help you.

literature is ART, not a fundamental skill everyone needs to have.

as I've mentioned earlier, a good assessment for actual English skills you'd use in uni is the US's SAT English section.

English literature performance correlates the least with IQ i.e. you can have an IQ of below 100 yet still do well above average in English.

The same cannot be said for a subject like 2u mathematics advanced. sure you can get average but certainly not above average with a below fucking average IQ. the minimum IQ required for a band 6 in math advanced is 112.
