Firstly, you're looking at WoW like you would any game which is a wrong approach as the addictive aspect comes into effect when you begin to grow emotionally attached (i know it sounds stupid) to your avatar and experience satisfaction from completing a task with a party of other players. Socialising is a big part of the gameplay which attracts alot of female gamers straight from the Sims franchise.

As a MMORPG, if you were to take the online compatability out of it - you would be looking at a horribly boring and pointless RPG which would fit into what you were saying about "giant chore".

Like this thread has pointed out already, MMORPGs are not a healthy thing to get heavily into. Its probaly killed more koreans than drugs and alcohol put together but when taken in moderation, the game can be a pleasant escape from RL...

There were 8 confirmed girls in my last guild [ about 12 or so claiming to be girls but with no vent proof or pics proof] 3 of them were pretty attractive[for wow standards, basically they looked like your average half decent girl you would see on a sat night] the rest were bushpigs.

I guess that can be a motivation for people who dont really get out much or are pretty lonely.

Been playing on this server for a couple of weeks now and I must say it's quite good.
The XP and drop rates are like 20x, but for the rest (quests/raids/instances) everything is blizzlike.

i played WoW for like 1 month before i quit. the game is boring. too much grinding and not that much action until u get to the higher levels and i just couldnt be stuffed.
DotA is a better game cuz u play when u feel like it, no long term commitments, and u dont have to pay money to play.
no i dea how people play WoW for years, its way too repetitious.

I have been playing wow for just over a year now and I find it a really good way to get out of this reality and play someone different. I am like the game but i preffere do play other FPS games like BF2142 and CS:S. Good idea if we started a BoS guild on a couple realms. *LOL*
