Fair enough. an example of a less ambiguous case would be:

Lev. 20:13, "If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death. Their bloodguiltness is upon them"

Is "they shall surely be put to death" up to interpretation?

What they intend isn't up to interpretation. Why would they write it there if they didn't want everyone to follow it for eternity ect? Come. On.

This is how i understand your logic: "We have the answers to everything in life"

*someone points out a logical fallacy*

"ALL OF THIS WOZ UP IN INTEREPRETATION!!11!!111"
what im saying is that in order to uncover the intention (in certain ambiguous cases only), sometimes a degree of interpretation is required
i think id be able to address your concerns if u provide an example

Because corruption in African governments such as Zimbabwe have actually caused mass murder and the major breaching of human rights etc.. what have gay people done except love each other :(
that is something which both you and I believe is wrong, just as homosexuality is something I believe is wrong
thus I'm justified in my stance against gay marriage (ie "it doesn't affect you" is not a valid argument)

Yes it might when the law is passed and a bunch of bible/Quran bashers decide to persecute the homosexuals.
I wont be one of them, and anyone who is obviously has no knowledge of the Bible

this is quoting from the OT Law, which was put in place because of man's weakness, but which Jesus fulfilled, thus it is no longer required

Galatians 3:23–25

23 But before faith came, we were kept under guard by the law, kept for the faith which would afterward be revealed. 24 Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. 25 But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor.

So by that logic, would you condone killing homosexuals before christ came? After all, humans are "weak" and need to be killed to make sure they don't do the wrong thing.

Okay so how about i also give you an example from the NT? Not directly related to homosexuality but:
Matthew 15:1-9 "For God said, 'Honor your father and mother' and 'Anyone who curses his father or mother must be put to death.'"

Context plox?

Well didn't God kill all the homosexuals before Jesus came anyway? (see: Noah's flood)

it should say sinners, not specifically homosexuals (who totally rejected God, unlike Noah, who, while he sinned, was "righteous")

To anyone against gay marriage:

How the hell does it affect your life? Why do you care?

Seriously, I don't give a shit if gay people get married.

They can do what they want and call it whatever they want, why do you want to stop other people from doing something that doesn't affect you in the slightest?

yes, that is what God demanded in the Law, to kill a man/woman who slept with someone of the same sex

if you read this passage, not simply the part you quoted, you will find He is criticising the hypocrisy of the Pharisees, they criticised ppl for failing to keep the letter of the law, while they themselves transgressed both the letter and the spirit of the law

my point in regard to interpretation is not "explaining away" certain facts, but to take things in context (as above), but to also have a definitive answer to fall back on when meaning is ambiguous
eg of the latter (one I've posted before in this thread): Therefore I judge that we should not trouble those from among the Gentiles who are turning to God, 20 but that we write to them to abstain from things polluted by idols, from sexual immorality,[d]from things strangled, and from blood. Acts 15:19-20

Now, does "I judge" mean that this is simply an opinion of James, or is he (in his capacity of presiding over this council) making the final decision
interpretation: he is making the final decision

this is *roughly* what I mean about interpretation

i can understand your issue with "moderates" in certain religions, claiming to follow their religion, but not putting it fully into practice (or just saying they don't take it literally, to prevent a backlash from society)

I don't believe that love is defined by gender. Honestly, I think we're all bisexual, all very capable of falling for either gender. Our sexual orientation is just whether or not we'd go for it!
And on the religion part of it, there are a lot of homosexual christians. Many believe that when the bible talks about homosexuality it means that it's still sex and should not be used as a loop hole to have sex before marriage, that it's still lust.

Don't go against the word of the lord or He will condemn you to hell!

Well, yeah... I meant that the homosexuals were also killed... but I suppose what you said was perhaps more correct.

How do you know what God thinks?
Are you God yourself?
You must take every single word of the Koran both literally and metaphorically.

The laws of a society reflect the society itself.
Unfortunately that statement never seems to be practically upheld. If only the laws were devised and implemented by the society itself and not poor representatives (politicians) of that society.

I was talking ideally, but yeah. But of course we know that that sort of 'full' democracy (I forgot the correct word for it) doesn't work well in practice.
