I worked out my internal assessment averages

The guidelines for percentages are outlined in the syllabus. Knowledge and understanding of: • the history, nature, and practice of chemistry, applications and uses of chemistry and their implications for society and the environment, and current issues, research and developments in...

    Explanation of HSC Marks (Moderating)

Did you bother reading the answers or read the links? The scaling process used in working out your UAI uses 50% moderated assessment mark and 50% exam mark. So they have equal impact. So your HSC exam doesn't have a greater impact.

    Ranked equal first

They will normally recieve the average of the top two exam results. They will be the same.

I worked out my internal assessment averages

It depends on how the task is set. If it is testing a full range of abilities, then there shouldn't be a need. If it focus in on a small range, then it makes sense toscale the mean and SD. If an exam is written so that its weighting and the range of marks are going to swamp the variations in...

    Explanation of HSC Marks (Moderating)

How true your post is bull, so whymake up crap? BOS has nothing to do with UAI, so they won't give you an answer. UAC is in charge. They have two documents on it. http://www.uac.edu.au/pubs/pdf/tsc_report_2005.pdf http://www.uac.edu.au/pubs/pdf/tsc_report_2005.pdf As the documents...

    How accurate is SAM?

As James has said your school doesn't come into it. Your ranking in the school do not come into scaling. That is done beforehand in the moderation process. SAM is only an estimate as only cutoff data is published and used. SAM and other programs use this to interpolate estimates

    Explanation of HSC Marks (Moderating)

Scaled, then it will be the same and is independent of the school. Moderation of Assessment is dependent on your school cohort and how your teacher has been marking your work.

    Explanation of HSC Marks (Moderating)

No-one knows your moderated assessment until all HSC papers are marked. Estimating, is a guestimate based on how your school marks the assessment tasks. Eg. At my school, people who gain 30-40 in Physics assessment tests, commonly end up with 60-70 in the HSC

Generator Current Direction Help needed please!!!

Do you understand how to work out the force acting on a moving charge in a magnetic field? Assuming you do, when you work out the direction of the force, the direction on a positive charge and a negative charge will be opposite. The same thing happens in a conductor when it is moved in a...

    Hsc ranking

It is possible for it to happen. Remember with small groups like three, BOS will look at the marks slightly differently as the statistical methods are not valid.

    Main Sequence Stars- Energy

No its the astrophysics option, Cosmic, you only have to have a basic understanding. Astro, you need to recall the reactions that are occuring and the steps along the way.

    Explanation of HSC Marks (Moderating)

It is a bit more complicated than mean and SD but it isn't just a match system. The match system is the easiest way of describing it. The mean and SD method is used other times Go back and and have a look at the original PDF referenced. Or as the BOS generally says they use statistical...

    UAI Scaling

I really question the usefulness of this, as your position in the subject effects the amount of scaling and as said above it changes each year. So try and put the number of marks advantage for the average in a subject is fairly meaningless. But then statistics can be used to show anything.

    Physics

Security period changes with test. Independent ended on friday. STANSW ends this thursday. Don't know about NEAP or Catholic.

I worked out my internal assessment averages

Everyone should have a list of percentages each task is worth. The variation between schools, will come in if the standardise each test. Some schools still shift all marks to a common average and sd before adding and weighting the marks.

    HSC Exam Marking Process

Re: Explanation of HSC Marks (Moderating) Just clarifying a few points. Maths are not marked a common centre. For non essay based subjects like the sciences all papers are not double marked. After the briefing session, markers will do a couple of hours of double marking. Then it changes over...

    Who hates physics?

The 2 unit course used to be calculus based. Suggestion was to bring in a more historical, societal course on top. Instead the board brought in one course which is neither. But then I don't want to go on about the BOS or I would never stop typing.

    Who hates physics?

There hasn't been a 3 unit physics course. At least as far back as the 70s, I don't know about before that.

    Doping

My initial reaction was that it isn't but is just a rewording on the dot point "identify that resistance in metals is increased by the presence of impurities and scattering of electrons by lattice vibrations"

    Independent paper 2006

Remember this is under a security restriction until Friday
