    Semester 2 Chatter Thread (2009)

yep it was the usual college 'initiation' wank. i love watching the geeky (non-slutty) ones who are at college because their families live in the country rather than for a social experience standing around looking awkward while the rest of them lurch around the campus in pink tights shrieking...

    Winter Break Chatter Thread (2009)

there's a production of hamlet aimed at youth at the opera house on the 15th august.. i don't know if it's any good, but at least it's a professional show rather than the hills district community theatre or something. Sydney Opera House - Hamlet

    Winter Break Chatter Thread (2009)

the uni hasn't exactly helped me get organised. some readers still not up on the copy centre site (or maybe those units don't have readers but the lecturers haven't emailed to say so, so i'm holding off on buying until i know). webCT not updated for semester 2, of course, so i can't get outlines...

Serious Advice Only: Passing P Exam

theoretically the new test is 45 minutes or something, but based on my own experience and that of my friends, in reality it's 20-30. but it'll vary depending on traffic conditions etc. in total there are 100 possible points, plus a few extra depending on how many hazards you encounter during...

    Augustus/Octavius/Octavian?

His name changed throughout his life, and when you're writing about him you should usually use the name he was using in the period you're writing about. At birth his name was Gaius Octavius Thurinus, and generally he was referred to as 'Octavius'. He was adopted by Julius Caesar via his will...

Longest you have had to stay in one building at USYD

bosch isn't actually as bad as people make out (comfy lecture theatres, cafe, vending machines, decent toilets), i don't mind having a couple of hours there. the only problem is that it's in the fucking middle of nowhere and takes forever to get to. if it was a bit closer to anything else it...

    Studying a language at uni

my experience of languages at uni is basically the same as everyone else's - it goes fast, and you need to keep up and make sure you learn all the vocabulary and grammar each week, because if you start slipping then you'll get hopelessly lost. discipline is very much the key.

    Wiriting an appeal letter

NRSL is the term you're looking for. but you have to convert your GPA onto the UAI scale (out of 100) before you average it with your actual UAI. there's a conversion table on BOS somewhere, possibly in the exchange/transfer forum

    Uni Acceptance

if you're applying for a standard course then admissions are determined by computers on the basis of your marks. i don't think there's much or any human involvement. for courses that require interviews... there could theoretically be ethnic/racial discrimination if you happened to get a...

Test in Blacktown RTA... is angle park tested?

don't know anything about routes, but there shouldn't be an angle park. they only test parking parallel to the kerb. how this works is that you'll have to do two or three manoeuvres during the test, which are selected randomly by the computer. the list of possible manouevres includes a reverse...

Predictions and Results (Semester 1 2009)

they were doing maintenance on student self-admin today so it was unavailable for a few hours, that's probably why you couldn't get at it. but i doubt any marks will be released on a weekend so you're not missing out on anything.
