Can anyone provide a good definition for "low earth orbits"?

yes, Low Earth Orbits (LEO's) are orbits around Earth that are between around 250 km - 1000 km where the van Allen belts start to occur. The previous post is good to describe them and compare them to geostationary orbits but I wouldn't really say it's a "definition".

Can I teach myself another option module instead of the one learnt in class?

Wait, 15 units and learning multiple options????? :jawdrop:

[FINAL] Don't roast me too hard ♥

I basically use an the raw trials and rawmarks.info database to estimate the aligned marks. Then plug this into an ATAR calculator (or if I think externals are different to internals, average them first). I may make a few intuitive decisions and make a few assumptions such as trials were an...

    Volume Question

LOL pikachu, you need a tutor.. Jks The solutions from the Board of Studies are pretty simple for the first question, I'd check em out for an alternate soln. (see Integrand's link) It is basically the same as the diagram in the question but simplified. Your method probably works but is just a...

Preliminary EXAMSSS!!! Good Marks= Good set Up

+1 to this Basically you need to understand where you are falling short and try and address this. Is it because you didn't learn the content or you couldn't apply it? Or did you have a breakdown during the test? If it's content-wise you're struggling with I'd recommend finding out where you...

    Volume Question

No, don't think so? In both it's between water level (horizontal line) and upper face of the hemisphere, that's how I see it...

    Volume Question

Oh I see now. It's actually measuring the height of the water, and not the volume as I, and perhaps you may have first thought. The height of the water is initially r (radius of hemisphere) and you need to decrease it to half it's height when tilted. I think this question is badly...

Good ATAR in a bad school? Is it possible?

Considering there are about 600 schools in NSW, you are within the top 33% of schools so that's not that low... The cohort may be a concern but I'd recommend being more concerned about exam performance more than the school ranking/your cohort. You're approaching a season filled with exams so...

    Cambridge HSC MX1 Textbook Marathon/Q&A

Re: Year 12 Mathematics 3 Unit Cambridge Question & Answer Thread The first question: The "sum of the products of pairs of roots" refers to the x term which is absent, meaning the coefficient is 0. Therefore the "sum of the products of pairs of roots" = 0 Algebraically: ab + a(a+b) +...

    Help

Well it could come down to certain subjects and such in order to gain few points here and there. e.g. what are your ranks like and current subject scores? If you be strategic in your subjects and what you focus on improving, you can probably add a few points here and there. e.g. focusing more...

FREE Physics Tutoring (jks just free help) Thread

Do you need help with this? Or are you testing my knowledge in these questions? It's fine if it's the second option but I'd probably prefer that a) you don't spam this thread and b) you try keep it relevant (ie. in syllabus) that way it's actually useful for me too. Not saying you are spamming...

FREE Physics Tutoring (jks just free help) Thread

lel This would be my approach. I'm not 100% sure this would gain full marks. (If you have them I'd look at the marking guidelines or marking notes for further advice if available) For the first one I'd try identify 1-2 relevant points and discuss them. I'd probably go with 1. Launching east...

    Transformers question

I think this was already posted and concluded as wrong and you even admitted it here: http://community.boredofstudies.org/264/motors-generators/350684/mc-question.html#post7161469 lol. This question has kinda been a stumbling block for me since I had found a previous explanation (that wasn't...

Forced to drop to Standard by School

Haha, funny thing was (although NOT funny at the time, lol) I had written two paragraphs and a bit and then BoS glitched and I lost everything I had written. So I wrote it twice and now you've read it twice :P Glad I wrote it out again though :P

Forced to drop to Standard by School

Haha, no problem. I'm glad I could make your day and help out! :) Well what I'd do is check your feedback/reports or any English related feedback that is significant (like assessable content) and look for comments/warnings like you've done for your Half Yearly/Yearly exams. If there is no...
