    your MC answers?

Nep. Charge of alpha particle is twice charge on proton, so acceleration ends up as 1/2 F = ma F = qE qE = ma a = qE/m

    Power loss

That V in Ohms law is POTENTIAL DIFFERENCE, not POTENTIAL. When you get that version of power loss, the V is also referring to potential difference (voltage drop), when voltage is increased, the voltage drop across the wire/cable decreases, hence power loss decreases.

    General Thoughts: Physics

A few tricky questions! Imo harder than last year. Some qu stains which I see very few students getting full marks in. Options seemed pretty straight forward, especially when you predict the last 3 questions, lol

    Transformer?

    Cells Would not be AC

    Best Approach for Exam

By this stage, you should be able to look at 90% of questions and be able to roughly hypothesise what the marking criteria should look like

    HSC Physics - 2014 Predictions

Surely! Last year, my state ranking student got a raw mark of 98 -- both marks lost in MC, I don't see that happening again! I think this will be a very difficult examination

    Best Approach for Exam

You really should DO them. If you just look at the solutions, you will say 'I would have said that' and give yourself 5/5 -- whereas if you write a response, then use the marking guidelines / solutions to JUDGE your ACTUAL response, you may find that you are missing something. Even better...

    JJ Thomson

Make sure at each of those 2 stages you using equations i.e., stage 1: |Fe| = |Fb| stage 2: Fc = Fb then bring it all together and really EXPLICITLY relate this to the signifiance i.e., it has mass -- therefore must be a particle and also relate it to its q/m ratio being ~1800x higher than...

Hertz' experiment: AC or DC power source?

Yeah, I do it with the whole standing waves stuff (assuming I have had the class in Year 11 -- as I teach standing waves in World Communicates), but even the concept of standing waves is beyond the scope of what HSC wants us to say -- keep in mind it is merely an outline question. Key things...

2014 HSC Physics -- Specific Questions?!?!

Hey guys, If anyone has any specific questions or dot points which you feel you need addressed, ask them in here. I will TRY not to respond to too many, as I would prefer those sitting the HSC to respond to test their own knowledge, but no promises on that one.. LoL Best of luck in your...

Is it possible to get 100 raw mark in ext 1 Maths?

I just saw his CV and it is not on his CV. Surely something this EPIC should be first thing on your CV! Who cares about a PhD from MIT, you got 100 raw in 4u maths!

    polystyrene question

PS is a funky molecule due to its delocalised electron cloud around the benzene ring, but all it has are carbon atoms and hydrogen atoms, therefore non-polar (no dipole-dipole) also no hydrogen bonding between the molecules as there is no atom with high enough electro negativity. So, I'd dare...

How to draw line of best fit?

It should (according to the equation), but it won't (as your experiment will have systematic error)
