By experience I think he meant experience in knowing when to dive Tim Cahill is at his peak. Aloisi is about 30 and will be past it at the next world cup.

No. It was not our fault for not taking our chances. Everyone knows that the Italians have the best defense in the competition, having not conceeded a goal so far (bar the own goal). But this is the knockout stage, and a penalty shootout (which Italy has a poor record in)was not out of the question.

No. They'd only say that a replay may have been possible IF the replay wasn't needed - like in the Australia Croatia game.

Oh noes! The italian blacklash! See this is the problem. We don't have the same level of outrage when a decision like this happens. SOME people in Australia will still try and rationalise how "mistakes happen" with referees and how the ref could have seen it as a penalty etc etc.

well to be honest I didn't watch the Ukraine Swiss match even though I stayed up. It was a bit of a meh after Australia lost. I really can't see Ukraine squeezing out a result against Italy, but they've gotten this far regardless of how they got here it's a decent achievement. Anyway who do you...

The question is why have they not brought in video technology where there clearly seems to be a need for it. The answer - because FIFA are a corrupt mafia like organisation that attempts to fix half of the matches at the World Cup. Without video technology they at least have the excuse of the...

no serge. We had two clear penalties that were not given in the Croatia game. Ukraine has played the worse football out of all the teams left in the tournament (including England and Italy).

I'm cheering for Spain and Italy (only cos they have totti the great - best player in the world, and De rossi - who might play in the final :p).

Don't blame referees, blame corrupt FIFA instructing them. Italy played it smart by diving in the final minute rather than before so that Australia had no time to come back.

    lets open our minds people

can you give convincing examples of specific cultural differences that have led to conflict between the groups you've mentioned, rather than simply list a few groups that have had historical conflicts and antagonisms. You keep talking about how important cultural differences are in contributing...

    lets open our minds people

Sorry but what is your argument exactly? Are you saying that cultural difference is inherently wrong, or simply that it causes problems? If it is the latter I'm saying that the conflict and antagonism in society between the groups you've raised is caused mainly by historical and racial reasons...

I think you have to field your most gifted players at this level even if they're inconsistent/not playing at their best. There's a reason why experienced coaches like Hiddink and Lippi select players like Kewell and Totti in their starting lineups.

    lets open our minds people

By race I don't mean difference between asians, whites and blacks. I mean the racial groupings based on nations (as opposed to states). I also mentioned historical reasons, and I think in all of these cases it is because something happened at some points in history that made persons born of...
