    lets open our minds people

Wrong. In all of your examples it's the antagonism between the two groups is racial or historical rather than cultural. It is not because one group's culture conflicts with another, but because one group has an inherent racial hatred of the other (due to historical antagonisms). Take Japanese...

Lodhi found guilty - first terrorism conviction

It's not about how much resources we're spending on fighting terrorism but about how we're doing it. If the consequences of the response outweigh its benefits, the response is obviously a poor one.

Lodhi found guilty - first terrorism conviction

Yes you are right and in that case the new laws weren't called upon. I mean obviously terrorism is a threat but we should not overreact to it. The real impact of terrorism is the panic and fear it causes rather than the actual loss of lives, and I think the enactment of the new laws showed that...

Lodhi found guilty - first terrorism conviction

Which recent arrests? The existing laws (before new anti terrorism legislation) provided asio with sufficient powers to arrest terror suspects. The new draconian measures are not needed.

Lodhi found guilty - first terrorism conviction

It is quite rare though. I think nobody has died from terrorism on Australian soil, but our civil liberties have been attacked by crazy anti-terrorist laws.

Australia has one of the most urbanised populations in the world though. Imo rural dwellers are comparatively overrepresented in that respect. However I do believe that the thread-starter has a rather stereotypical perception of North Shore residents. Most of us are not like that.

    Muslim People in Australia

I don't think this thread should existed either, to be honest. I mean you might aswell create a thread for every minority in the country so that people could discriminate even further, going by the example of 'muslims in Australia' and 'homosexuality in australia'.

Poor form of him to stay on though. The big questions now are: Who's refereeing Australia v Italy? and Who does FIFA want to go through?

Looking forward to the Ghana replay. I'd like to see both Italy and Australia go far. For that to happen the Czechs need an equaliser... doesn't look likely though with 10 men against an Italian defense =/
