Re: The Official A-League Thread. I did Tripview. It's literally 90 minutes each way. Add in the fact that it's a 7:45pm game... and I have something on the next day, not good for me unfortunately :(

Best laptop or ipad style tablet for commerce at Uni? - any price

Touch screen on laptops? I think if you're looking for touch screen options, just get a tablet. Sure, tablets are easier to use and more practical - but personally I don't use laptops at uni and just do all my typing at home because the laptop is quite heavy. Tablets are lighter but there's...

    Flexible 1st year engineering ?

I thought flexible first year was to allow you to find out what types of Engineering you're interested in. Also UNSW is best.

    Maths in an economics degree

Economics has mathematics in it. It's just part of the nature of what it is. The problem with doing the level of mathematics is that for certain concepts, a certain level of what's called "mathematical maturity" is needed. And you get that by exposing yourself to progressively harder levels of...

    The Football Thread

Re: The Official Football Thread so beautiful  Next up... the Jets. I remember sitting in the stands at Parramatta the last time we played, and the atmosphere in the last five minutes as we peppered their goal with shots (but to no avail) was just amazing. I still maintain that was a...

Using other people's study notes to learn

If you want to teach yourself the content, you're really best using your textbook for that. Other people's notes may have gaps in them or may not explain it as clearly to you, though they might think it's perfectly clear.

    Courses for Commerce/Sci help!!

You focus semester by semester. The list of subjects you have to do is a list they will check that you've completed at the end of your degree. You take them in any order, 24 uoc or so at a time (usually 4 subjects per semester), as long as you complete all the requirements for your degree. Of...

how to approach the "show that" questions

I take "Show" questions to be like "Prove" questions. Not sure if that helps - but that's how I approach them.

    2U to General ?

may i add to the "lol you want to do engineering with only general maths. good luck not failing" choir Engineering has a lot of mathematics at its core. If you're going to shy away from 2u mathematics - you are going to literally die at uni mathematics where in first year, it's 3u and...

    Working alongside eng.

You are allowed to skip lectures but really, if you're not going to go to those six hours of lectures - you then have to find six hours or so elsewhere to catch up. Engineering students have ridiculous timetables and I'm sure many of them don't work. You shouldn't either with that sort of load...

    HSC 2013-14 MX1 Marathon (archive)

Re: HSC 2013 3U Marathon Thread ugh tau \tau = 2\pi because apparently tau is a lot more prevalent in formulae so they feel that tau should be the "correct" mathematical constant over pi
