MATH1131: Importance of lectures and tutorials?

Well, how did you go in the HSC? 1131 is basically 3u and 4u revision in Calculus, and new stuff in Algebra. Personally I'd suggest going to the lectures because there are some new concepts such as matrices and the like no one has seen before - and... it might be helpful to receive instruction...

What would you tell your first-year self?

Well... essentially because uni isn't just about your education. There's a social aspect to it as well. For instance, I'm in an Advanced Maths degree. Very specialist - there's only 100 of us. And in first year maths, and in second year maths, there are the same people in the classes - you see...

    The Football Thread

Re: The Official A-League Thread. True that. They were pretty full in January though because of the Kids Under 12 free promotion. Apparently the kids weren't counted in the official attendances because if they were, several of the ticket counters have to be broken. I mean a crowd of 15k means...

Back-to-back tutorials - good or bad?

Yeah 5pm finishes are sucky. I either try and catch the bus with a friend so I have a bus buddy and train buddy if possible, or just wait about half an hour - eat in the Quad, walk around, or study a little.

    A few questions

Yes. For instance, in second year maths, there were no textbooks. People learned very quickly to pay attention in lectures. But for you, Commerce/Eco, there should always be textbooks so you might get away with it. Though I know my FINS1612 lecturer would troll and put stuff on the slides and...

Re: The Official A-League Thread. Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh, I know where it is now. The 'North Unreserved' section. I just checked the seating map. That's actually very good. I sat there once, to watch the Newcastle game. I agree the seats were actually quite good. Yeah... now let's make Sydney FC v...

Re: The Official A-League Thread. Nice! I see the Wanderers Facebook always putting up pictures of community involvement - which is always good to see. I mean... I had NRL players show up at my school to talk about drink driving but I never knew who they were so it was just like 'cool story...

Re: The Official A-League Thread. Ah the unreserved section. My Deputy Principal at my High School sits there. Apparently he saw me on the bus back one time but I didn't see him. Chatted to him the next week and one of the first things he said was: "Did you see me on Sunday?" And I'm like...
