Which is better for my timetable?!

Take the Scientia Steps. Basser Steps is going the long way around. Cutting through Electrical Engineering has either lots of stairs or waiting for a lift.

    Cheapest option for train/bus travel

I think for those ones you get a barcode and you can apply to get them back if you lose them.

    Cheapest option for train/bus travel

^ That. Plus, I don't think they sell concession MyMulti's for anything longer than a Weekly anyway. So just get Weekly tickets.

Late Round Offers & Alternative Pathways

Re: FAQ: Late Round Offers No, if you get offered preference 5, then preferences 1, 2, 3 and 4 are considered. You don't need to do anything, or touch anything, if your preferences are in the correct order. If not, change it.

    The UNSW Textbook Buy/Sell Thread

You guys realise that textbooks change from semester to semester so... it's not really advisable to buy textbooks now. You should wait until the official textbook lists are out, and they should be out in two to three weeks time.

    A few questions

50/50 guys and girls? More like 70/30 or maybe 65/35 at the very very most... at least in my experience, or recollection. And maths in Commerce and Economics is pretty much a joke. If you can plug in numbers to equations, you're half way there. Though admittedly you do get to do some...

    Enrolling Error

Did you make sure you selected the right option - right semester, right stage ('Undergraduate') or whatever it is? Type course codes correctly?

    About attending lectures

Yeah but if you don't go to the lecture and it's recorded - you now have to find some other time to listen to it. Personally, I find it better to just go to the lecture when it's on. My schedule becomes more organised that way...

    The Football Thread

Re: The Official A-League Thread. Crappy first half, like last week against Wellington - but we picked it up in the second half. I was really worried at times, Topor-Stanley saved the game for us with many, many, many body blocks and we were completely outclassed in the first half - they kept...

    Enrolling Error

Can you be more specific? What error do you get? Prerequisite error? Can't enrol error? Or maybe the class is full? If nothing else, just contact the uni tomorrow by phone and nut it out there.

    Missed out by 0.3!

No WAM is your mark. There's scaling if there are higher and lower versions of a course, and always moderation - as you'd see in the HSC. And maybe if you're English inclined, yes 75 in Arts is easier than in Science. But others might feel differently.

If you do your work and put in a general effort, no. Average mark given out is 70. So ask yourself: "Am I an above-average student?"

    Making friends

You'll need to watch more movies then. And if you want to hang around with those guys who hang around in the basement - I'm sure you'll end up as basement too. Of course there are always people who break the stereotype.

You'll need to transfer into Science/Commerce - and need an average mark of at least 75 to be considered. https://my.unsw.edu.au/student/academiclife/program_transfer/program_trans_ASB.html

    Making friends

It's computer science. Tell me how many movies you've watched which has a girl geek who sits around all day programming. Comp sci kids are notorious for being basements. K17 is a literal basement in the comp sci building I believe, where guys park at 6am and game or do god-only-knows-what for...
