Ranking is a relic of the old days and it's fucking stupid because in order for the ranks to have any credibility you have to ensure every student has precisely the same schooling conditions and experience which is clearly not the case... I say abolish them :D

Why not just use the distance formula twice, once you've got the co-ordinates of P? Distance AP = sqrt(20), Distance PB = sqrt(5) Which is a ratio of AP:PB = 2:1 :D
