    Correct name for this compound?

The first one- since the 'numbers' in both add up to nine, you choose which carbon to start from by looking at the most electronegative element (flourine). Therefore the carbon with flourine becomes the 1 carbon

Yeah, could you (or someone else) please do Q3b. I did it but I'm not sure if I interpreted the question correctly or if what I did was valid. Thanks :)

    BOS turns 10!

    Yay. Happy birthday.

    English Standard vs Advanced

NO. The aligning in advanced is so much better than standard that even if you are just an average student, I would highly recommend keeping advanced. In you want figures, I think last year 13% or something got a B6 in advanced whilst about 0.1% got a B6 in standard. Obviously on the whole...

Yeah I don't have answers either. If you post your answer for specific questions though, I can check if I got the same thing (not saying I'm always right though).

Could you do the other parts?

Nope- nice observation. How'd you notice that though?

    How's everyone's trial prep going?

Well, if you need any help or whatever, you can PM me and I'll try and assist.

    How's everyone's trial prep going?

You're comparing yourself to others on BOS and stuff- they don't reflect state average at all. Though I get your point about them not being competition. Do you have a tutor now?

    How's everyone's trial prep going?

You're not that stuffed- you're way ahead of most people in the state (maybe not on BOS though...). With 3U, what specifically do you struggle with? Is it remembering the theory, applying it or just sitting tests? And yes, doing past papers for the two weeks when you get back to school should...

Yep- that was easy marks and the question 7 (I think) mechanics was a straightforward 6 marks.

Oh right :). Personally, I hate expanding big things because I always lose terms somewhere but that's just me. BTW, I just did the paper- there are some very nice questions in there (though the mark allocation for some questions is a bit deceiving- some are way easier or harder than their marks...

    First in course

Wow- just looked at the paper. The entire first question was just retarded. Some of the questions were decent- the one on converting ethanol to ethyl propanoate comes to mind (that was a solid question). Overall though, WTF. What did everyone else think?

    Looking for solutions

The way I did it is nicer I think: We know that f(x) is of the form ax^5+bx^4+cx^3=0 (as x^3 is a root). Define g(x) to be the other function -> g(x)=ax^5+bx^4+cx^3-1 Now we know that (x-1) is a triple root -> Differentiate twice and you end up with three equations. Sub in x=1 to each of them...

WTF? Which school is this- that sounds retarded...

Do these papers- the harder papers are the ones that really test you and as you seem to make 1500 threads about needing helping with Q7's and 8's- I'm telling you do HARD papers.

    First in course

You're in with a shot bro- just work a bit on that maths rank. BTW, I thought you were ranked worse in physics? Last I heard, you were coming like 21st or something- congrats on strong improvement :P

Go for it- post any question and someone will answer it.

    Another Locus Question

Yep but I'm doing something else atm. If no one does it in about an hour, I'll do it with working. EDIT: Clearly you didn't have to wait an hour lol
