    Veterinary Science

btw kimmeh - theres plenty of work for vets - but not if u want to live in the city, the country is begging for them, and, when u qualify at Syd, U R registered in the UK too, and they love Aussies coz we're hard workers - lots of work to be found!

    Veterinary Science

Well I'm competing for one of those other 25 HECS places for people not going directly from year 12 (I'm trying to transfer from Animal Science) I missed out on Vet last year by 0.05, so I am suitable bitter and twisted. I would say most of your competition would be nerdy selective school kids...

    Cutting Places

hee hee hee, dont even get me started on this. I missed out last year by 0.05!!!!!! I bet heaps of places will be cut because it is such an expensive course ( like, it probably costs a lot of money for the govt to put us through it) I think there will definately be less HECS places, and more...

what is your worst subject at uni?

Okay, check this course out Biometry = a cross between maths, statistics and computing. ugh, I cant think of a worse combination. thank god I only had to do it for a semester. second worst is agricultural economics. For a subject only worth 3 credit points, it takes up way too much time.

    on campus accomadation

I dont, but all the ppl who live on campus at Sydney that I know love it. I wish I did, I'd say, if you can, do, i mean, if u dont like it, u can always leave

    better than school?

okay, i'd like to see you go in with a positive attitude when u get up a 5:30 every morning to go sit in classes such as "agricultural economics" and Biometry. Last semester I had 28 hours a week. Including travel time (about 15 hours), thats more than a full time business workload (as in out in...

Wat if u dont get into any course?

Actually, being in this situation myself, I think it would have been easier to repeat the HSC, or, just do one or 2 subjects again, because you can do as many subjects as you want, and only the top ones are used to calculate your UAI. That way I could work part time, and school work is heaps...

    syd students

well, like anyplace there are good and bad parts. the newer buildings and those that have been redone are okay, like manning and most of carslaw, but others are pretty shonky, like wallace lecture theatre has huge big cracks running down the walls, which worry me slightly... and the agriculture...

    better than school?

I'm doing animal science. It's just not what I want to do, and its not what I expected, which is why i hate it so much, I dont see the point of most of the stuff i'm learning. but, yeah, i've heard that 1st year is worst, so heres hoping for better things to come. for me its more stressful...

    better than school?

Uni sucks big time. just thought I'd let u see the other side of the spectrum, the side where you spend 3 hours a day on public transport, haul yourself out of bed at 5:30 for 8am lectures, cram in lecture theatres with really crappy wooden seats (thats if u get a seat at all), with 28 hours a...

    STAT exam

Has anyone done it? is it hard? what sort of things do they ask?

    university grades

I think its just because people cant stop after the HSC. to a person with a UAI of 95+, the idea of getting "Just a pass" is horrifying. Also because of the whole bell curve thing, you have to make sure you are in the top 3/4 or so to pass, also, some degrees require you to maintain a credit...

    your Lecture theatres....

Chemistry is a shocker, we always have people sitting on the steps, and its not because of the "popular" streams, all the streams are at the same time, just on different days. In my first Agec lecture, there were like 50 people standing, so they had to change the room. The best lecture theatres...

    Ppl with >93 UAI..

whats your definititon of crap? an assesment mark of, say 70 in a good school could get scaled up to an 80 when compared to the rest of the state - you have to remember, there are a lot of people who really dont care about their HSC, and a lot of really crappy schools out there that ur competing...

A friend of mine got a 96 UAI and got into medicine at newcastle. so dont give up hope.

    Animal Science?

I think they did it to attract people into the faculty, becuase a lot of people dont even consider agriculture, but if people see the high UAI, then they consider the course. especiallly for wannabe vets.

    drop out rate at uni

lack of interest is definately a big factor, especially coz in some courses you have to start with the basics, like in science courses, which are so boring and sometimes seem so irrelevant. I know in my course (b of Animal science) we dont actually get to do any animal related subjects (except...
