    Grade point averages

5.5 is calculated through a special table that equates the GPA into an equilavent UAI. Make sure before you post, you have a look around first, i.e. the Transfers thread in the Transfers forum.

    UAI cutoff worries

A few important points have been outlined in the UAC book so have a flick through again and read some of them. CSP places are to be filled first than DFE. In the end, it depends how popular a course is.

    preliminary/main round confusion

You choosing TAFE was a definitely no no. If you went to TAFE that would have meant you having to get a diploma. It's better to be in the system. DFE is short for Domestic Fee Paying.

    preliminary/main round confusion

Are you doing a degree currently? Yeah the thing with Tafe is you need to apply early ; you had minimal chance of gaining a place because you applied on the last day, not because of your marks. Just making sure that you know this to make you less stressed out lol. Did you also apply for DFE? I...

uai below 90. possible to transfer?

For details read the Transfer thread - once your in the system it's much easier in terms of looking of what you need to achieve. Doing very well at uni means you have applied yourself and you know what it takes to do well at uni. If you achieve well, there's no reason why Phar isn't possible.

    preliminary/main round confusion

Calla, as you know I am in the same boat as you but it is the 17th. All school leavers and non school leavers receive offers in the main round. The lady at the interview said mid-jan so I knew it was 17th. I think it would have been too early to give offers already.

HELP! I need to advice about transferring/degree choice

This is going to be my last post as I think I've said alot lol. I think it's fairly easy enough where you can take the Pharmacy course or the Law degree. Optometry was another option you mentioned. If you wanted to do this, you would have to do B. Science (UNSW) and major in Vision Science...

HELP! I need to advice about transferring/degree choice

I'll shed some light for you on B. Pharmacy if you'll like to know. If you don't gain entry into this course first time round and you decide it will be a transfer into course, your UAI won't be considered. You will have to sit a STAT test. With this and your GPA will be looked at. This is all...

HELP! I need to advice about transferring/degree choice

Sorry lol, I meant you don't have to do super-duper well. Don't try and think in terms of numbers - if you apply yourself and work hard like you did in Year 12 than it isn't such a concern. On the other note, don't worry about the spot number. Alot of things come into it. Just do well yourself -...

HELP! I need to advice about transferring/degree choice

You should kind of sit down adn think it really carefully because you don't want to end up someone who likes transferring every year for your life. If you got admission into Pharmacy, would you be interested in becoming a Pharmacist or working in Pharmacy? Because although you have enjoyed...

HELP! I need to advice about transferring/degree choice

I'll like to know about this myself. I'm eerie on this one. If there were 50 spots and there were more than say 100 people who got higher than the UAI required, how does this work? To they scale the UAI higher at last minute?

HELP! I need to advice about transferring/degree choice

You actually spelt prerequisities right, does that make you feel better? :D You can transfer to any degree you like, no pre-requisities. Some courses may indeed ask you you submit a written statement for example but it's to boost your chances even more. Well, when you apply, you are applying to...

HELP! I need to advice about transferring/degree choice

In terms of your example, the outcome will be only 94.5. Looking at his preferred courses, it's 99.xx so as agreeing with you, a D is needed. Gosh realising UAI is counted still , thank god I'm not doing a course which counts your UAI so heavily.

HELP! I need to advice about transferring/degree choice

So you're saying it is possible to transfer to a course, say bachelor or science/bacehlor of commerce provided my GPA and UAI are high enough? Is this generally true for most courses - say if I wanted to do BPsych or something? And also, correct me if I'm wrong but I can apply to transfer to a...

HELP! I need to advice about transferring/degree choice

Well at least your not sobbing over your UAI because it should have been high enough. The three courses you have chosen are those "elite" UAI programmes. Seeing how they are all 99.xx, you may still have a chance of gaining admission, you just have to wait as again and again that is said...

    UAC scale uni marks?

In some respect that probably do but the main thing I want to say is that the universities have the last word if you are going to gain admission, if you are a non school leaver for example.

On the topic of University Transfers...

Let's just say I know the inside story with this - if you enjoy what you are doing than you want have any problems. Just don't make it feel like it's some job you have to go to. The better you do the better it is for you. If you get a D than it's more than enough. But getting high marks doesn't...

    UAC scale uni marks?

Just remember that UAC doesn't do anything regarding university in terms of academic marks. They are just the middleman delivering the info to you from your chosen university.
