I just realised how lame it is that i'm interested in another supermarket's way of going about things. It's just interesting how different some things are done, I guess.

    6. A manager shouldn't ask you to interrupt serving a customer, instead, they should find a checkout without a customer

The Coles agreement, clause 3.3 states: My dictionary has as a definition of engaged "To require the use of". So, that means that Coles if they request you to work must request a minimum of 3 hours, but are under no obiligation to pay you three hours if you did not work for all of them.

Well, I've noticed the number of signature transactions I've dealt with on my shifts drop drastically compared to pre-PIN times. Most of the signatures slips are for AMEX/Diners without PINs or people who can't be bothered remembering their PIN.

I agree, but you don't know the situation in that particular store, they might have needed some more casuals. I'm glad I do my two face-up shifts each week - even though it's a shit job It's good to have a reasonable level of minimum hours each week. It's quite funny that I haven't had a...

This sounds more like the (unsuccessful) interview I had at Woolworths. And you were right to put customer safety ahead of angry customers. Is this a new store? I'm only asking because usually they interview you for specific departments, by that department's manager I'm guessing you'll...

Which department are you applying for? I never had a group interview for Coles, so I can't advise you on what they contain. I would say "suitable attire" would be your shoes, plain slacks and you could probably wear your school top - or just a regular button & collar shirt.

What REALLY annoys me is when the "Let us serve you on a nother register" (i.e "Closed") sign is up, the light is off and I'm quite clearly bagging up a register people STILL try to line up OR ask "are you open?"

PPT doesn't mean that you'll work the exact same shifts, it just means that you're contracted to work a particular number of hours each week. If your uni timetable changes, you'd just tell your CSM the hours you're available.
