The distribution of grades for individual assessments would have been quite similar to the overall distribution (which has been posted <a href="/community/showthread.php?threadid=30107">here</a>). I very much doubt anyone received over 54/60.

It's not impossible. One student managed it last year. (After all papers are marked, the marks for each course are separated for the purposes of reporting.)

Anomalous students are generally extracted before the moderating process begins and are re-inserted later after the necessary calculations have been made. The Board won't investigate in the sense of an inquiry, but measures are taken to avoid negatively impacting the rest of the group.

The student who was ranked first would receive 100 as their moderated assessment mark, yes. But each student will always receive their own examination mark as their exam mark - which would have been 45, in this case. The two marks are averaged to give the HSC mark.

And 'exam scaling' (usually referred to as 'aligning') has no effect on UAIs. The original poster was obviously asking about 'subject scaling'.
