UAI.

It rolls smoothly off the tongue.

In my opinion, there really is no difference. For me, I prefer UAI, for the reasons specified by jetblack2007. Hearing Asian parents say 'Arrrr-tar' makes me cringe.

I do prefer the notion of a nation-wide ranking index though.

when atar finally becomes national apart from qld it will be stupid because if we want to apply to unis interstate we have to do it outside uac, so pointless. plus atar rolls off the tongue in the same wasy retard does

UAI for reasons stated above, it sounded so natural. ATAR sounds stupid and like philphie says, it reminds me of 'retard'.

As for the system itself I have tried and given up on understanding the difference between scaling/aligning/moderation and the UAI/ATAR calculations, it makes no sense to me so I resolved to just accept it.

I prefer the name UAI, but from a technical perspective the ATAR is better. (We should've gotten all the other states to change their name to UAI.)

UAI.
Would've gotten me 99.95 =p

But I dislike ATAR anyway =p Other states should have to conform to us =p

personally, I prefer the UAI because of aforementioned reasons, primarily the much-easier-to execute name.

I guess UAI is sort of better because a 100 sounds so much better than a 99.95

Umm...you realise there's really not any important difference?

You just can't get 100 anymore.
And scores went up by a little over a point in general, as did course cut offs accordingly.

No difference, stupid question.
