It's not a minority.

For example.. hijab. The hijab is VERY common for Muslim women. Yet the Qur'an stipules the dress code be:

1. Cover your chest
2. Lengthen your garments
3. Preserve your modesty

which IMO are very, very reasonable rules, yet we have a majority which preaches the hijab as compulsory, and a minority within that which preach that NIQAB is compulsory.

This is what I argue re hijab.^

And the niqab is not compulsary. It is only indocrinated in Saudi Arabian and Afghan law. I personally object heavily to the niqab, however, if a person wishes to do so, then I cannot say much.

The main problem is most of these hadith are untrue, even hijab itself, their is no word in qur'an that women should literally wear hijap.

Thats why in islam, only the quran is to be followed, not some book written by COUNTLESS people. It just loses its authenticity.

Yes, but how many Muslim women do you see? Maybe you see only a few thus distorting the percentage of people who do wear it, or a select proportion of the community that is more conservative.

Has it occured to you also, that these hijabs are the choice of the women themselves in most cases rather than the oppresion of their husbands (which undeniably does happen, but imo to a less common extent)

And again, this not the fault of the religion, which is based on the Qur'an but of scholars who distort it via obscure hadith that not many Muslims actually read.

I argue that the basis on which the hijab and niqab are worn is not religious but something inherent in Arabic culture

That argument is fallacious. Is a girl being brought up to be girly and like pink a form of oppression? Is a boy who is taught that he should not cry a form of oppression? These are all just social conventions and norms, and social norms have existed in human society since ancient ancient times.
